I need help BAD!!!! electrical problem

Ok, heres the deal, I have plenty of electrical experience but I cant figure this out. This afternoon I installed my tailgater switch for my reverse HIDs and something went wrong.

I have the +12v for the tailgater switch tied in to where I get power for my radar and my amp remote wire- its the wire that goes to the power mirror switch on the lower dash panel next to the steering wheel and the VSA button. I hooked it up and put the dash back together, but I found out later that when I clipped the dash panel in, a wire going to the switch got smashed in a clip slot so it grounded it out on the metal behind the panel. I fixed that, but my instrument panel went completely black, and the gauges stopped working. That turned out to just be a fuse. The check engine light came on but I disconnected the battery and it went away.

I still have a BIG problem I cant figure out: My heat/AC controls and display dont work, so I dont have heat which is the major problem. Also the mirror button isnt getting power so my radar and amp dont turn on, and the heated seat buttons dont work. Heres the weird part though- when the tailgater switch IS hooked up the ac/heat DOES work, as well as the radar, amp and mirrors, but ONLY when I put the car in reverse... That shouldnt happen because I put a diode in the wire going from the relay in the trunk to the switch I just installed, Im pretty sure I put it in the right way...

So far Ive checked ALL the fuses- the driver kick panel and under the hood. They are all good. So I need to figure out how the climate controls, heated seats and power mirrors are tied together and then I should be able to figure it out. Can anyone think of anything? Is there a another fuse box I dont know about?? Im driving up north for Christmas so Im gonna need heat, thats my biggest worry. I need to fix this by Wednesday.

I drew up a half assed digram of how its wired up:

Someone please help me!!!!!!

Right now I have the tailgater switch disconnected, and the reverse lights work fine like before, but the mirror button, climate controls, seat heaters, radar and amp dont work. Its dark and cold now so Ill mess with it tomorrow after work. Hopefully you guys can give me some ideas of what to look for.

According to this the seat heaters are fuse #15, the power mirror actuators and blower motor/ climate controls are fuse #30. Im pretty sure I checked them but Ill check #30 again tomorrow, I know I checked #15 and it was good. It could also be #4 in the under hood fuse box but I know I checked it and it was good.

If you have a wiring diagram. That would help alot.

Nevermind, I'm not thinking straight anymore.

I've got the ETS manual and the service manual. Eating dinner right now, but I'll take a look in a few.

Are you sure the heater switches are not working? FYI, the key has to be in position II or started. Also, IIRC the switch lights are on a separate circuit (fuse #4) from the seat heater circuit. Just because you don't see any lights doesn't mean the seats aren't being heated.

I'll be back with more.....

1. looks like fuse #7 (10A, per TSB) is blown (under dash box).

2. diode is wired backwards.

3. I have to assume fuse #4 (under hood box) is blown

Did you pull the fuses out to check them?

And the diode needs to be able to handle a 7.5 amp circuit.

No, I shined my little light on top of them so I could see inside all the fuses, I could see pretty well but Ill pull those ones out today. The diode I got is only rated for 1 amp forward current, so Ill get another one of them too.

Check your fuses, or the diode is wired backwards, if I were you I'd get the 12v signal for the on demand switch from another source. When I first installed my hid reverse lights I had no diode, I just added it just in case.

Ok, Im a retard it was just fuse #30 under the dash. It looked ok but I took it out and it was blown at the very bottom. Everything is good now. Im gonna get power for the radar and the tailgater switch from the empty slots in the fuse box instead. I know I shouldnt have all that tapped into that one place, Im just lazy and I dont have a multimeter anymore to find an ACC power source. Are the 2 empty slots in the under dash fuse box hot with ignition power???

Thanks for the help guys, I was worried for a minute but it took 3 minutes to fix it...

Try using the add-a-fuse harnesses. You can plug that into an existing fuse and it has a wire lead for 12v with an additional fuse for what you need to hook up. I've used these before in my teg with no problems.
