I need an aftermarket navi for my 04 TL
I have a 2004 TL, when I bought it I got the aspec package instead of a navigation. ( Navigation was an 8 week wait at the time.) I'm in sales and I curse myself 2x per day for not getting it. Any feedback on aftermarket Navigations and where did you put the screen?

There are a lot of Nav systems, I actually purchased one through Delorme.com if you go to there web site you can check it out. It works on your laptop and uses an external USB reciever that you place on the dash. Its nice because I always carry my laptop anyway. We used it traveling up the PCH last year an it was very acurate and very reliable. It only cost $130 dollars. Its a nice idea if you dont want to carry additional stuff and you already travel with a lap top. I also purchased an inverter to plugthe comp into the car while driving. You can purchase them at Best Buy, Comp USA, Circuit City, and abunch of othewr places. This comes with Street and Trips 2005 that you can put on your home comp as well. I love using it... Of course its not a small handheld unit, but as I said If you carry your laptop anyway. It uses voice recognition software (included) if you want to use it.

Yes, its really a nice program, also talks you through the turns. I really do like the program. ( especially for the money) Check out there website http://www.delorme.com/earthmate/configlaptop_info.asp
Let me know if you have any questions about it.

For the same price as the stock navi you can get an Alpine AVIC-N1... has both a Navigation system AND DVD player built in. REALLY nice unit... It does Voice rec too, not as much as the stock one, but it does it.
really nice unit.
Search for AVIC-N1 and you will find a ton of info on it.

bbader---check out the tomtom go....its better than the magellan which I had and returned. I have it mounted in my tl and it looks/sounds great.
I have checked out MANY solutions...this is the best by far. It mounts right over the left vent and is rock solid. You can get this online for like 621 and theres a 50 dollar rebate. I will post a picture later to show you how clean it looks. NO wires because the battery is rechargeable.

the avic-n1 is sweet - but wait a little while - i saw a thread on here somewhere saying it will soon have the xm navtraffic like the new RL has.
also check out mp3car.com with the carputers - maybe have a navi system with a computer...? probably not worth the money - but check it out

hmm
avic does look sweet---but you are talking 2-3000 installed...you can get the tomtom go for about 600 without ripping up your dash. You would be surprised on how well it integrates with car

I too recommend the TomTom GO. If you but it make sure you update the software to the 4.40 version so you have radar POI's. It has a built in battery so you can power it or use the battery. It has about a 5 hour life. I use it both here and in Europe. Map routing is better in Europe than here but it's not bad here usually. Buy the 1GB SD card for it and you can fit most of the US on 1 card. It will talk to you and has a touch screen. Great bang for the buck but I still like the Acura nav the best.

Can you hook me up with how I can add my own POI's? or other peoples in the usa? I went to this site http://www.dnote.nl/pda/poi/PoiEdit/downloads.htm
but I dont see a poi editor specfically for the usa.

Any of the POI editor will work that I've tried. I have the one you have and it works. The biggest issue was finding POIs. To find POIs try POIhandler.com and there are other sites that list POIs for TT. USA POIs are slower in coming than Europe ones as TT has been there longer.
