I just linked my V710...Question

I just purchsed a Motorola v710 phone from verizon this weekend. Its the updated phone (no more crooked camera, or buttons scratching the screen surface). the box that it came in had a BLUE dot on it.

Anyway, I linked the phone, and now eveytime I start the car it automtically links with my phone.

I swear I am gonna exceed my monthly minutes with this feature.

My only question is this.....
If i get an incoming call and I have people in the car (and dont want them to hear the conversation) how can i dissable the feature to NOT have it play through the speakers.

it is even possible?

thanks all.....

Linking doesn't use minutes, only placing/receiving calls does.

As for NOT using the handsfree, I have a shortcut to Bluetooth. I select that, "Handsfree", and disconnect from the TL.

You can answer via HFL and transfer the call to your handset.

You answer the call.. then ask them to hold on one second, you hit the HFL button and say "Transfer" and it will transfer the call to your phone

Maybe you should try re-linking the phone.

V710 will not receive incoming calls in vibrate mode or when using some particular ring tones. Try changing ringtones.

For the original poster, if you have passengers and you are expecting a private call, you can always disable the Bluetooth in advance. See the thread linked below. I use the method that user iceneedle posted. Works every time and is very easy. I most frequently use it if I am getting out of the car and taking the cell phone with me so that (a) I can save the battery by not having Bluetooth on unnecessarily and (b) there is no possibility of the phone somehow trying to connect to someone else's Bluetooth device.

I see the same behavior. Re-pairing as Treblig suggests doesn't fix the problem. Resetting the phone (on the phone, Settings > Initial Setup > Master Reset) -- after which you'll have to re-pair -- does fix the problem.

I know that my phone isn't in Vibrate mode when it fails, which ghanaba suggests might be the problem. However I did change the ringtone from Moonlit Haze to Notify. A Master Reset will reset the ringtone. I'll try changing the ringtone back from Notify to Moonlit Haze to see if incoming calls ring the car.

I had that problem early on and changing the ringtone solved it. FWIW, I found that an easy way to do it was to take a cordless phone into the garage, put the car in "accessory" mode so that the HFL activated, and then just call the cell phone trying different ringers until the HFL rang. I believe I have my v710 set to "standard" for incoming calls; it works fine. (Don't know for sure which ringer since it's in the car and I'm not)

Exactly what I did, for every built-in ringtone (except Silent) -- here's what I found.

The following ringtones ring the HFL when a call is received:
Vibe Dot
Vibe Dash
Vibe Dot Dot
Vibe Dot Dash
Vibe Pulse
Alert
Standard
Bells
Triads
Up and Down
Jitters
Upbeat
Guitar Strings
High Impact
Moonlit Haze
Nightlife
Wind Chime
Random
Bit & Bytes
Door Bell
Ding
One moment
Provincial
Harmonics
Interlude
Snaggle
Cosmic
Gyroscope
Chain link
Eclipse

These ringtones do not ring the HFL when a call is received:
Chimes high
Chimes low
Ding
TaDa
Notify
Drum
Claps
Fanfare
Chord high
Chord low

This resolves the only complaint I have with my V710. Woo hoo!

My V710 with Veriaon works receiving calls in the vibrate mode. In fact, it switched automatically to vibrate when I had another ring tone set prior to linking it.
