I just bought a 10" bad ass sub
Have any of you guys ever heard of the Kicker Solo X? I just bought one and a I cant wait to get some amps to power this thing! Just have to save up some money. For you guys that dont know what the solo x is, it is competation sub which is 5000 watts 10" (also come in 12" and 18") square sub that has 2500 rms watts. Anyone have any reccomendations on amps? I got a really good deal with a sealed enclosure, the sub retails for $999 alone!
Also, where is a good place to tap for the remote turn on for the amps?

They are very good subs, impractical for normal sub reproduction, as you stated it is a competition sub, SPL sub to be exact. It has a peak power handling of 5000 watts, and a power handle of 2500 watts RMS. A sub does not produce power so this is poorly stated "square sub that has 2500 rms watts". A good amp to go with this is going to be the Kicker zx2500.1 Click Here for the link to the spec page. This is a strong amp and will push this sub nicely. You will also need to factor in the cost of the 1/0 power wire you will need along with either a cap, batcap, or a gelcell battery. Any amp you choose to go on a sub of this magnitude is going to draw a lot of current and put quite a stress on the electrical system of the car.
The draw back to this sub, is if you do not put enough power on it, you will be smoking it in a very short period of time. If you have any further question, please post and you shall receive a response.
Please don't take me as coming off harsh, I work in car stereo and sell Kicker brand, and I have seen a lot of subs come back because they where under powered.

Jason.,
yes a comperation sub that has won both awards for spl and sq. I was told by kicker when I called them today that the 1250.1 would be fine to use, and that 800 watts per channel is just right. He told me that the 2500 watts-5000watts would be for the competations which last that brief 3-5 seconds of slamming bass. And they also said running it at 2500 is like running your car wide open and shouldnt be for someone who uses it daily. I dont know about some of you guys, but I am sure not going to use 5000watts every second I drive my car. Also amps, I was told that when you get class D or mono channel amps, you have nothing to worry about in terms of power usage. I will check on underpowering it tommorow.
