Humming/Thumping Noise Coming From My 12 inch Subs???
I am currently running the following in my 3rd gen TL:
2 12 Type R DVC in a Vented Enclosure
1 Alpine 1000watt amp
1 AudioControl Overdrive
1 Monster Cable 1 Farad Cap
1 RockFord Fosgate LineConverter
My system pounds really hard but I noticed today that all the base was cut away and came this really loud humming or thumping noise when I had the volume up to 17. It sounded like a constant 25-30hz note. It was very annoying and I had to turn the volume down for that noise to go away. Later I was able to turn it back up and it was ok. It happen twice today. Have anyone counter this problem??? I turned down the gain of the amp but it it happened the second time. Anyone know where this problem is coming from???

Sounds like you might have a ground loop between your amp and your deck... the more power you pull through that amp, the more unwanted side-effects are possible... You just might be seeing one of them.
You could try placing the amp power/ground leads next to where your deck gets it's power. Or better yet, place everything powered with *individual* ground leads that terminate at the battery...
Good luck!

I have it grounded in the trunk. I thought the shorter the ground the better. Won't grounded it near the deck power up front be way too long of a ground??

A grounding circuit always completes at the source of power; in this case, the car battery. Thus, if you "ground" your amp on the car, the ground current will still have to find it's way to the battery, meaning there is a current path between your ground connection on the car and the battery... This path may not be very good, or it may be excellent; one thing is for sure, however, you want the best ground path you can get so you don't get voltage drops that can induce noise into your system.
In many cases, having a specific ground wire connect to your power source is the best way in ensuring you aren't sharing a path with another circuit, and you can take measures to protect your circuit from picking up noise.

If I do that, then I would be running a 4guage ground all the way under the hood by the battery from my trunk. So then I will have it running the other side of the car since my other 4 guage power is running on the other side of the car. WOuld this cause any interferance with my remote wire running with either the ground or power wire?
Thanks you all...problem solved!!!!! Apparently, my amp's gain was way way too high causing it to do that. But now my amp's gain is way down and it sounds 5x better. I guess with the Alpine MRD 1001 has so many functions it takes some time to figure out what sounds good and what sounds bad.
