Hello I am new to the forum and I have a question about power for adding subs. I did a search but could not find anything. All I need to know is how many amps can you pull from our cars before upgrade the alternator or adding an additional battery? I really don’t want to put a burden on the cars electronic accessories and also have my headlight dim when the bass hits. I called the dealer and they told me the stock alternator is 130 amp and that’s pretty good considering my old impala had like 80 amps stock. I don’t’ want to put more than 600 watts in and from what I read that is 43.48 amps? watts/voltage? That should leave me 86.52 for the rest of my cars electronic system or accessories. My thought is that even if there is 130 amp alternator it doesn’t mean it’s over sized. Does anyone know exactly how many amps the car uses?

I would like to know the answer too. But I can tell you that you will be fine with 600 watts. I'm pushing nearly double that. Even though I pretty much never listen to it loud, the few times I have, there have been no bad effects. With it hitting louder than I can stand, to where the roofline is vibrating nearly as bad as the speakers, there was a slight dimming of the interior lights but I can't imagine ever listening to it that loud. I would get a cap before upgrading the alternator or adding a battery.
