How good is my amp?

I didn't want thread jack, so I decided to make my own. I am at a crossroad right one deciding a new sub. The amp I have currently powering the the previous sub is a JL Audio JX 360.2. The two subs I'm trying to decide on is the IDQ 12v3 D4 or get another JL Audio W3v3. So my question is would 360 rms be enough to much the IDQ sub?? Leaning more towards a SQ set up nowadays. There is not a ID dealer in my area for me to even compare the two.

I listen to pretty much all types of music, but mostly hip hop and r&b. I'm not into the hearing my car from blocks away, but still want that bass inside the car be felt and be loud. I read a sealed box out of the recommend size will be a nice balance of bass and SQ or a ported for more bass

The rest of my system is:
ID CXSv2 components in the front
powered by JL Audio J2 320.4 (bridged)

AudioControl Matrix

That should be plenty of power for the ID sub as long as you go with just one , 2 subs it might not be enough.

Im very pleased with my w3v3 sub , whats making you change ?

I am also pleased with the way my w3v3 performed, though I may try the SQ route.

I planned on getting one sub

Either sub will do fine on the amp . Im sure if you messed with the settings on your amp you could achieve a good sq from a w3 . Ive been messing with mine but im using a mono channel amp so i have some different settings than a 2 channel amp would have .

That's enough to get loud. I've heard good things about the amps. If they really are the successor to the E and A series, they're solid.

Keep in mind, if you add a second sub with half the power going to each sub, it will be 3db louder. The main benefit is less excursion for a given level with two subs, keeping distortion down.

Thank you everyone for the help, I think i'm going to try the IDQ 12v3.

Cant wait to hear it one day. I am bone stock other than a Polk audio DXI 124 DVC sub that some on the forum have called "shitty". I likes it though.

I just have to decide either to get a sealed or ported box now

I was in the same position as you on sealed or ported . I went with a ported setup and couldnt be happier . I think it sounds a bit better than sealed but also depends on how much room you are willing to give up as ported boxes are generally bigger

Man, audio can be so complicated. I havent order the sub yet and i've been looking over some things and one was how to wire up a dual VC sub. I have a 4 ohm stable amp and came across this diagram on Sonic Electronix. So i would need to get the IDQ 12v3 2 ohm subwoofer instead, correct. Judging by the diagram

If you can give up the space, ported for sure whether its for sq or spl.

Memo - Yes , you are correct . You will need a dual 2 ohm sub and wire it in series to make it a 4 ohm load .

I Hate - Yea my box for my sub is twice the size of a sealed box . But I went with a single sub and still didnt give up to much trunk space . I went with a JL Audio HO110RG-W3v3 and it slams for a single 10" sub ! More than pleased with my decision.

Thanks for confirming. I dont mind give up too much trunk space because I hardly put anything back there, but for trips when i'm not traveling alone.

I wonder if I should just get a 10' sub. Isnt more cone space better?
