I don't have a link, but I do have a navi system in my TL. All sounds from the navi (turn instructions, for example) come from the center channel. I would be surprised if Acura spent on a multichannel interface with the intent of only using the center channel. If it was stereo, I'd expect the sound to come from the left and right channels only. If it could do stereo and center channel, then it'd have to be at least three channels of audio (LCR).

not to sounds like an a$$.. but there are plenty of threads in this forum that discuss the use of Cebin and dumpnavi. do a quick search in the Audio, Bt, electronics and navi forum to find out how.

good luck.

The signal from the Nav is 100% mono. You can see in the schematic diagram below. The audio link is RG L(+)... MP3 functionality is a waste. Maybe picture viewing app that can display your photos would be more useful...

For those impatient... The patch is available now. Precompiled version will be posted later.

The patch should be applied to navi.exe from BNHH401a.bin (Orange disk ver 3.50). You will need cebin to pack it back to the bin. Alternatively, zero out some useless strings (french nags, etc) to make it compress better. Similarly to the trip computer patch, navi.exe from 3.50 DVD should work with previous 3.xx versions.

/AngryDad

P.S.: Thanks to all who donated (all three of you :). You bought me an MMC+ card and PCMCIA adapter for it. I am now playing with a crapload of trip computer data that navi logs to the card.

Not necessarily a waste. The processor and whatever audio subsystem they use in navi (integrated into CPU or not) most likely support 2-channel audio. If lazy Apline engineers decided to use just left channel, it does not mean that it is impossible to rewire audio outputs and make it stereophonic.

No. If you have the skills and tools needed to run the .crk file, then you can use it to modify your BIN file now. Otherwise, if you're like me and lack such tools and skills, you'll need to wait for AngryDad to post the compiled hack which will patch your BIN file.

Angrydad,
Great job on creating software crack for Navi. I recently got an 06 Accord w/navi and it has the newest edition(white disk), any chance of porting your hack to this?? If so, I would be more than happy to make a "donation" to the cause.

Manual Patch Method

KennyC, you say success. Did you get the manual method to work. I get the loading screen and see AD at the bottom but the rest of the text www.vistabug.com/navi of the patch is not displayed and then it just reboots.

I figured I just fat-fingered the hex entry during the first two attempts, but the third was just the same. Guess I will have to wait for the compiled patch.

Thanks for the effort put into this mod.

writeup on using cebin:
1. make a folder i your harddrive, i made my folder in C:\nav

2. eject navigation disk from trunk of car and insert into cd drive.

3. Copy the 9 .BIN files on the DVD to the c:\nav folder.

4. Download the new HMIManager file (MPG from angrydads site) and paste into folder along with 9 bins

5. download cebin and place all files in nav folder.

6. right click on replaceWakeupscreen.cebin and open with notepad.

7. delete all text in the file and type this:
# Replacing HMIManager.exe
#trace on
image BN2HH12C.BIN
verbose on
replaceFile HMIManager.exe HMIManager.exe
saveToFile BN2HH12C.BIN.NEW

8. save file as replace.cebin

9. open command prompt and go to nav folder

10. type in:
cebin replace.cebin
then it will say file is blah blah and then done.
delete the file BN2HH12C.BIN ONLY!!!!!!!!!!

11. rename BN2HH12C.BIN.NEW to BN2HH12C.BIN

12. burn all 9 .BIN files to a cd

13. Insert the origional navigation DVD back into the DVD-ROM in your car.

14. Start the car normally (or put the key in and turn it so NAV turns on), and at the main navigation screen hold Map/Guide, Menu, and Cancel for 5 seconds once again.

15. Hit the "Version" button on the touch screen once again.

16. Take the origional navigation DVD out of the car, and replace it with the CD/DVD you just created.

17. Hit the "Load Disc" button on the Version screen. As suggested by ttliang, if you get a warning screen saying the disk is no good, just hit "guide+menu+cancel" again to bring you to the "version" -> "disc load" then it'll load.

18. It should take about 20 seconds for your car to load the new BIN and reboot. You shoudl see your new Once that happens, take out your burned CD/DVD and put back the origional navigation DVD.

19. If anything goes wrong, remove the ground to the battery for 30 seconds with the origional DVD in the car. The old OS will load back on the system.

Donated! enjoy a cold one on me!

I am awaiting the compiled version as, I assume, that will be simpler install.

Also when I do this will it eliminate your trip computer hack that I have already installed? as I would like to keep that as well. I am also planning on changing the image that is displayed at some time in the future, do I load these individually or somehow combine them to load properly?

got it working. thanks so much angrydad.
it took me 2 tries. manually edited all of the locations with hex editor. then repacked with cebin. tried loading the disc but no luck. just got into the repettive reboot thing.
i double checked my hex editing and it was ok. i tried removing unnecessary info in navi.exe so i could use dumpnavi. that did the trick. dumpnavi was the way that worked for me.
thanks again angrydad. i'll be making a donation to the beer fund soon.

My understanding is that you have to make each mod individually, and add it to the BNHH401A.BIN file. You will have to add each mod into the same BIN file so that they are all available together.

I manually edited my file (I used QView, but it didn't seem to want to recognize the CRK file when I tried to import it). Then, used csmeance's overview of CEBin to pack it all into a new BIN file. Burned to CD, loaded, a viola! It's the only mod that I have included so far, although I will probably also include the startup screen mod and nag screen text change.

kennyc, what verison are you running? 2kb???? with a 3.30G cd. i need to free up 531 bytes. ALso after the new bin is created, right click on it and go to properities. In there, click on the advaced button (next to atributes) and check off "compress contects to save disk space" that made my file also 1 mb smaller on my disk.

For any 3.30G and newer, following my instructions can give you the Trip computer and other updates. For the startup screen, you need to use dumpnavi. Just extract the files using dumpnavi, drag in the new image (name it back.bmp) and use command propmt to update the bin.

Haven't tried this yet, but can't wait to in the A.M.

Angrydad, I'll absolutely throw a few bucks your way for the efforts...

I'll throw a few more buck your way if you'll clean up the AC controls to make them work properly, and fix the Trip Computer "miles to empty" calibration issue.

There's just something about making modifications that don't function properly I don't like.

Good Job Guy... Thanks for the effort.

somebody should make a new thread with writeup for bypassing ok button after the patch is released (linking to this thread as a detailed reference).

I searched through the navi.exe for *.cpp and replaced those with zeros. There were probably 15-20 places where I did this in order to make the file small enough to repack with dumpnavi.
I think there is something wrong with the cebin program for repacking files with a larger size. I just don't trust it.

As far as adding an mp3 player. There is no option in cebin to add files. You can only extract tiles or replace files. Therefore, I don't know how to add the .dll files that would be required to run the dcmp3.exe.

AngryDad, any thoughts here?

It would sure be cool if someone with the 3.50 disc posted their unpatched (or patched) Navi.exe for those of us not running the latest and greatest.

I took this idea from the enabling trip computer natively thread:

Updating HMIManager.exe ...
The size of the updated file must be less-then or equal to the size of the old file.
This feature might be introduced in a newer version.
Updated file (COMPRESSED): 868391 bytes Old file (COMPRESSED): 868376 bytes

So unless there is some way we can shrink the compressed file by 15 bytes I'd say 3.40c is dead in the water.

15 bytes.... so close yet so far away...

This is very easy to fix. Find useless strings in HMIManager.exe, like debug info, source file names (*.cpp), etc. and replace some of them with zeroes using your favorite hex editor. dumpnavi them will be able to better compress the file.
