how to burn DVD-R?

hey i just bought an 05 TL a week ago. I would really like to know how to get to play DVD discs. I know i won't get the 6 channel sound because i'm burning 2 channel music on the disc.

so I read that people are burning DVD-A discs. So do people buy empty DVD-A discs from best buy and make their own CD's? I haven't been able to find the DVD-A discs. I bought Sony DVD-R discs the other day because I read people are having success with them. Unfortunately I have a dell dvd burner which sux. it only does dvd+R/RW. so the first step is to get a freinds computer to do this.

can someone (and this is you adobeman) help me with step by step instructions on what to do. I know i use the search feature. I have. but i'm still not clear and i'm not very savvy in this.
step1: buy the discs
step2: find the right burner
step 3: convert mp3 to wav or rip CD in wav format.
step 4: get the appropriate program to burn the dvd's. which one?? and how

i will be in debt to anyone who can give me the directions in laymen terms without making me feel like a dumass. thanks so much u guys for helping out the newbies. you were once young too. remember that.

^ Thanks.

The 3G TL Audio/Electronic FAQ (referenced above) contains a few threads on DVD-Audio from Adobeman and others.

BTW, blank DVD-A disks do not exist. DVD-A is a standard, just like DVD-V aka DVD-Video. Both standards can be created using DVD+/-R media formats. You are correct though in that the TL prefers DVD-R over DVD+R: DVD-R or DVD+R?

It seems like you have the basic steps down.
1) Buy a pack of DVD-R
2) Most DVD Burners that can burn DVD+R will be able to burn DVD-R media.
3) There are lots of programs to convert mp3/CDs to wave. I know that a few good ones are mentioned in Adobeman's threads.
4) As for free software, there's Adobeman's. Commercially, there are a few that are outlined in the FAQ.
