How big of amp is needed?

i would like to power 2 6x9 speakers off the trunk lid. what size/channel amount should i look into? this will not be a bass amp, i just dont want to take power from the already weak system in our cars, plus these speakers will not be on all the time. im not an audio guy at all so im turning to you guys for a quick help.

Thanks

Do you plan on cutting your deck lid for 6x9s? If not, then the stock size is 6.5" round.

1. Why use 6x9's?
2. Why wouldn't they be on all the time?
3. If you really are going with 6x9's, which isn't very smart, which ones are they? This will help us recommend an amp

Like JDA said, we have 6.5" components up front, and 6.5" coaxials and 8" free-air sub in rear deck. If you're looking for more output, do the fronts. If you're looking for more bass, do a small sub. By the time you cut the deck, buy an amp and 6x9's, you could have bought a nice used sub/amp combo or new depending on your budget.

okay guy lemme explain myself better, sorry for the confusion. i am making a fiberglass speaker box to go on the trunk lid, (to face outside when the trunk is open. when the trunk is open the speakers will be mounted on the vertical part pointing backwards) it will replace the carpet cover. i only want them on when i am outside. i dont have speakers in mind but i heard 6x9 were the best hitters without going subs. also i want an amp that will be capable of handling two good wattage speakers. 200 maybe?

200w to some 6x9s should be fine, if that.
