hooking up a hi/low converter

ok I DONT have a TL, YET....Im looking to purhcase a year from now...so Im starting to do my research...I have an 01 civic, and I have a pretty good sound system in it....2 V12 Alpine Amps (one 4ch amp and one mono amp), and 2 10" type R's, pioneer deck...blah blah blah...lol

now, when I sell the civic Im gonna keep the amps and subs....now when I buy the TL Im gonna wanna keep the navi and surround sound obviously...

when I hook the hi/low, do I hook it up to the line coming into the amp or the speaker wire going to the stock sub???

also, if Im installing my other 4 channel amp to power the other speakers in the car, would that be ok....same process right??? and is 4 channels enough....my amp puts out 50W RMS at 4 ohms

sorry for all my nooob questions....I did a little research but I havent got any clear answers...

i hooked up the hi low conveter at the stock amp, to the wires going to the sub.. I tried hooking it up to the wires going "into" the amp, but didn't work. I also put the amp under the passenger's seat.. I am in the process of putting a 4 channel in as well and changing out the speakers. that amp is going under the driver's seat. i am going to tap the wires at the stock amp for the 4ch too. get yourself the service manual.. has the wiring diagrams in there.. comes in handy. also.. if you don't have a hi lo converter yet.. get the audio link.. the best one out.. you will need 3 obviously.. hope that helped

bklyn,

You have any pics of your setup? Did you have to take the passenger's seat out to mount the amp? My amp is mounted on my box now, but would be a lot cleaner to put it under the seat where it will be climate controlled when in use, and also will not have to run power, remote, RCAs, etc. to the trunk -- only the speaker wire. Give us some more details on how you did this.

Thanks!

Shawn
