Honda Inspire/Accord Fog Lamp Question

Okay, so I've been trying to find a solution for my need of auxiliary lighting on my 04' TL. I didn't want to put a light bar on my car, because that would look hideous, also I have no idea where I would mount one. This lead me to search for the popular Honda Inspire/Accord fog light modification.

This might sound stupid, but I'm not that inclined when it comes to electrical work.

Most of the posts show wiring going directly to the positive battery terminal for a source of 12 volt power. Could I wire the foglights into the fuse panel (either under dash, or in the engine bay) rather than running wires to battery positive to power the lights? I want a clean install, but mostly I don't want fog lights to stay on when's the ignition is at Key off engine off.

I noticed that at this DIY that the fog lamps were wired in a way that they shut off when the removal of the key from the ignition. However, he is powering his fog lamps directly from battery positive.

Hey mister youtube guy

if you did more searching you would have come across this thread that details every wiring part, especially for noobs

https://acurazine.com/forums/third-g...-06-tl-817615/

What you need to understand is that there are 2 things that are important.

1. 12V power for harness
2. a trigger wire

EVERY fog install you see will be connected to the battery or fuse box 12V.

the trigger wire is what you can choose to be.
what the trigger wire does is tells the fogs to start taking power from the battery to turn on.
fuse#32 under the dash is hot when your car turns on and off when your car is off.
that means if you use fuse 32 (under dash) to be the trigger wire, that means the fogs can be turned on/off when the car is on at your desire, but when the car is off, fuse #32 is off, which means your fogs don't get the "trigger" or "signal" to turn on.

cheers

I ran my power wire directly to the battery and the ground to the frame. The trigger wire that guitarplayer mentions is inside the cabin and goes down to the fuse panel.

I forget exactly which spot I used, but there are a few unused fuse locations that are switched, which is what you want. I then wired it to this:

http://www.amazon.com/Bussmann-BP-HHH-ATM-Add-A-Fuse/dp/B000GKEXK2 http://www.amazon.com/Bussmann-BP-HHH-ATM-Add-A-Fuse/dp/B000GKEXK2

They have them at autozone or advance, the link is just amazon for convenience of showing it.

Make sure you use a switched fuse location - if not, then your fogs will stay on until you push the button to turn them off, even if the car is off.
