HLF Locked out

I have an 04 TL that I bought used. The previous owner had setup the HLF security password, so I don't know what it is, and I bought the car at a dealership. Anyway, while playing with the menus today, I was in the security options, and said the command "Go Back". The HLF took it as "Lock", go figure.

Anyway, I'm now without HFL. What are my options, other than trying 9999 unlock attempts.

I think you could unplug your battery over night, but I would be prepared to lose all your stored names/phone numbers/saved addresses/personal settings. Plus you would need to enter your navi and xm code, which you may not have from the previous owner either. I have heard that those codes cost over a hundred to get from the dealer, so get them from the previous owner if at all possible.

If you bought the car at an Acura dealer, just have the dealership unlock the HFL (which it should do for free). Otherwise, contacting prior owner may be next most practical solution. As bar2v mentioned, make sure you have the car's Navi and radio codes in either the owner's manual cover or in a separate packet. If not, you should try to get those from original owner.

Car was a trade in at an infiinity dealership. I have no record as to who the prior owner was, I'll contact the dealership tomorrow to see if they have a contact. It's worth a shot.

I have disconnected the battery for the night, although I'm not too hopeful as when I bought the car 6 months ago the radio wanted its code entered - yet the HFL link lock code is still there.

94 bucks, one trip to the dealer later and HLF works again.

The good news, they didn't need to reset the HLF or the Radio, they we able to just clear the Password.

They bad news was they broke the button cover on the windows lock switch on the drivers door while working on the car. I noticed it as I was about to drive out of the dealership. I walked in with the broken cover in hand, they gave me that look of "We think this was broken before you came here today", but agreed to replace the entire switch (not just replace the cover, guess they are sold as a unit) on Friday when they get the part.
