Received a phone call the other day, answered with the HFL. HFL picks up, but there is no sound. Tried to make a call a day the other day, and sure enough, still doesn't work. The Main Menu works, and responds to voice commands. It reads back to the phone # I input for a call, but nothing.

Normally, as soon as the call would be started, you would hear two pulses through the speakers, and then you would hear the number ringing through the speakers. Now, no pulses, nor any sound coming through the speakers. People I have tried to call say there is no sound on their end from my phone.
Additionally, when I go to hang up, I press the Back key, and it doesnt return to the voice prompted main menu. I have to hit the Talk key, and then the Back key again to get to the main menu (so its almost as if it doesnt register they initial back key getting pressed). I have check the phone during HFL operation, and the handset speaker and mic are in operation, so it seems to be using its Bluetooth when attempting to use the HFL.


Was hoping someone would see this and know whats up. Im afraid I have to go to a dealership to get it addressed, and im sure no matter what the issue it will cost me big. Any info would be stellar. Thanks guys.

Extra info - 2005 TL (non-Nav), 106,000 miles. Had it for almost 2 years.

All of the answers to this common problem are found here- 1 word of advice though: take out the HFL and clean the contacts first. If this doesn't work, then pursue changing the capacitor on the board as indicated. Bringing the car to Acura will result in a bill of at least $700 for a new module which in most cases isn't needed.
