HFL Question
HFL Question
Hi ... I was trying to figure out how to dial on my phone and have the connection made thru the HFL?
Is this possible? I have many #s stored in my phone that are not in the phonebook on the HFL and would like to speed dial them on the phone. I know that you can transfer the call after it is connected, but is is possible to start the HFL, make the call on the phone and speak and listen via the handsfree?
For what it is worth, my phone is the Moto v505, which seems to work pretty well.
Sorry if this has been discussed before ... I tried to search, but did not find anything.
Thanks.

The owner's manual is your friend!
You'll have to take the time to load the HFL phonebook if you'd like to speed-dial your numbers.
All you need to do is press the HFL connect button on the steering wheel, say "Dial <number>", and follow the voice prompts. It's very simple, but sometimes the voice-recognition of spoken numbers is a bit shaky and you MUST do it with the windows and moonroof closed if the car is moving.
Definitely read the manual. It WILL give you all the answers.

Thanks for the wise-ass reply
, but that did not answer the question. I know how to use the phonebook (and I did read the manual) ... my question was how to dial from the phone without using the phonebook (or the voice dialing for that matter), and being able to talk via the HFL. I have many numbers stored in my phone that I don't need or would even fit in the HFL phonebook, so I was looking for alternatives to using the voice dialing.

Sorry, not meant to be a wise-ass reply.
Your goal wasn't clear to me initially, and by now you know that you can't control your phone's phonebook from the HFL.
The HFL phonebook is a pain to program, plus I have a number of friends with similar sounding names which causes grief when using the HFL phonebook. I usually just dial the phone by stating the number because it's easier.
Transferring the call to HFL after dialing on the phone is also an option, however, it takes away from the convenience of the HFL and it's probably illegal in NY if you're caught tinkering with your phone while underway.

Hi I dont have an answer to your question but would you mind if I asked you one since I also have a V505 with a problem. When I recieve a call in the car it answers as set "YOU HAVE AN INCOMMING CALL" however I also get a ring in the V505 phone, different than the ring set for out of the car use(Flare). I have listed my settings below. Perhaps you can tell me how yours is set which may eliminate the problem. I can't get an answer from ATT Motorola or HFL. Perhaps you can assist. Not many folks with V505 yet.
Thanks

MARVE37:
Search the forum with keywords "Incoming" and "Ring".
While no-one has specifically mentioned the V505, I suspect the problem is common to all Bluetooth phones connected to HFL. Your ring choice is probably the culprit.
Good luck.

leeherman ... no problem, I overreacted a bit, but frankly getting the RTFM response is a little frustrating. Anyway, I could have sworn I read here that there was a way to dial the call from a phone and speak and listen over the HFL, without having to transfer it after it was connected. I guess not, but hopefully someone has an idea that works.
As far are the ringtone question, I haven't really even noticed ... maybe my tones are set to be the same. I will check it out though.
