HFL problem w/ incoming calls

About half the time, the HFL on my '07 TL-S has a problem with incoming calls. I can "answer" the phone when is\t rings and hear the person on the other end. However, the caller hears a bunch of noise. Later, when I finally get to talk to them they typically describe the noise as sounding like a fax or modem answered the phone.

This has happened with quite a number of different callers. There is no problem with outgoing calls, only incoming, but I'm really getting tired of people asking me what's wrong with my phone. This only happens using HFL. The phone works perfectly with a bluetooth headset and by itself.

Anyone else had this problem?

When this happens do you have your phone set on ring mode or vibrate? I have found with my Verizon phone that I can only have it on vibrate otherwise I can't answer incoming calls, similar to what you've described.

It's set to ring.

You imply that it's binary in your case - works on vibrate, doesn't work on ring. Mine works about half the time on ring.

When yours didn't work, did the callers report the fax-like noise on their end? Could you answer the phone and hear the caller? I can always answer it and hear the caller - it's just that they can't hear anything but noise half the time.

BUMP

The car is in the shop, but the dealer says they can't duplicate the problem.

Anyone out there have a V325i? What's your experience? Works all the time?

Better - I tried another car. After the dealer said the HFL worked fine, I drove a TL-S MT demo identical to mine. My wife called 10 times and it worked perfectly every time. Switched back to my car and she got the "FAX" noice 2 out of three.

They're going to replace the HFL module now.
