HFL Module Solutions

Just purchased a 2004 TL w/ Navi, only to find out later that the Bluetooth does not work. According to everything I have read, and confirmed by Acura inspection, the HFL Module and Delay Box need replaced. Estimated cost @ Acura is $1,200, which is roughly $900 of parts and $300 of labor. Ughhh.

I have read a lot on this and tried the recommendations, including disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes, as well as bridging the positive and negative terminals for 20 minutes, both for a complete system reboot. In both cases I had a full system reboot, but still did not fix the Bluetooth.

1) Has anyone found a solution that works to repair without replacing?

2) Has anyone found parts for less than $900? Repair seems pretty easy if I can find parts.

3) Any other options? Can an aftermarket product still use the functionality of the buttons on the steering wheel, and mute the radio while in a call?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide. Obviously I should have tried to pair my phone before purchasing the car.

When I had my 04 (08 now) the HFL module went bad and they replaced it under warranty. They told me it was a common problem and have since come out with an updated unit. Perhaps your local dealer will replace it under the TSB or out of goodwill, especially if you bought your car from him. Can't hurt to ask.

Ouch. Sorry to hear that, but it lets me know to bring my phone along and give it a test before I buy.
