HFL Help!
HFL Help!
I have an 07 TL with Navi and I hate the fact I need to say my 4 digit passcode in order to use my HFL I have searched through the owners manual and forums and I can't seem to find (if it's possible) to remove this lock can it be done and if so how?
I also have a Galaxy S3 (Verizon) and I want to import my entire contacts list off of my phone can that be done? Instead of me having to do it through the car and add peoples names and numbers to the phone book on my car.
Thanks guys

However, to remove the need for a pass code, I would try setting the phone up again through the HFL set-up menu, but saying "no" to the pass code option when it arises.
IDK if you can import all of the contacts at once on the S3-- Sony Ericcson phones were the only phones that the HFL could import contacts from in one step when the 3G TL was new. Suggest you try importing the contact list (no more than 50 contacts, though) to see if it will work. If that doesn't work, you should be able to import the contacts one at a time.
There is a pass code option which can be set to require a code on every ignition cycle-- OP is apparently one of the few people to use that option.
my Hands free stopped working, I called the Hands free help line, they suggested the dealer take the battery off and reset the system. I took the battery off myself, then restarted, it worked 2 calls and then stopped!! The worse part is that my Navi screen and dvd driver for the navi system iare totally dead now, Any suggestions. Thanks

It has been awhile since I have set up and paired my HFL to my iPhone, but am reasonably sure there is a setting / question that asks if you want your four digit code to be required each time you use the HFL.
I believe it has something to do with incremental security. I have mine turned off and it is usable without the code.
Try something like "Phone Setup" and go through the options again. You should be able to change the option. Let me know how you make out. I can recheck mine if it doesn't work for you the way I am remembering.

I found this in my owners manual -
‘‘A
security option is available to lock
the HFL. Each time the vehicle is
turned on, a passcode would be
required to use this system. Would
you like this security option turned
on?’’ If you say ‘‘Yes,’’ you can set
your passcode. Refer to the setting
procedure on the next page.
Setting your passcode -
The HFL will accept a numeric, fourdigit
passcode that you can use for
security purposes.
Follow the system setup
procedure as described previously.
Press and release the Talk button.
After the beep, say ‘‘Yes.’’
The HFL response is ‘‘What is the
four-digit number you would like
to set as your passcode?’’
Press and release the Talk button.
After the beep, say the four-digit
passcode you want to use. For
example, say ‘‘1, 2, 3, 4.’’ TheHFL
response is ‘‘1, 2, 3, 4. Is this
correct?’’
Press and release the Talk button.
After the beep, say ‘‘Yes.’’ The
HFL response is ‘‘Security is on.
Each time the vehicle is turned on,
the passcode will be required to
use the system. The system setup
is complete. Returning to the main
menu.’’
Press and release the Talk button.
If you say ‘‘No.’’ after the beep, the
HFL response is ‘‘Security will not
be used. The system setup is
complete.’’
Once a passcode is set, you can lock
the HFL so it only operates after the
passcode is entered.
The HFL will prompt you for your
passcode each time the ignition
switch is turned to the ON (II)
position and you press the Talk
button. You will only be asked for
the passcode once per ignition
cycle. If the passcode is set, its
response is ‘‘The system is locked.
What is the four-digit passcode?’’
Press and release the Talk button.
After the beep, say your four-digit
passcode. For example, say ‘‘1, 2, 3,
4.’’
If the passcode is correct, the HFL
response is ‘‘Main menu.’’ If the
passcode is not correct, the HFL
response is ‘‘1,2,3,4 is incorrect.
Please try again.’’ Go back to the
step 2.

Hmmm. I know the HFL units do fail from time to time. We had the HFL unit replaced in our 07 MDX under warranty. If you search on issues with the HFL, you will see it is common (not sure how common) on both the MDX and TL.
thanks for your response. I am afraid I will have to take to the dealer, already took to the audio guy locally, he spent 30 minutes checking fuses, etc. It is so maddening that it just happened after I took off the battery!

Keep us posted after you have been to the dealer.
Got it! Thanks for the help everyone. What I did was start my car, unlock the system and I said "Settings" then went through the settings and the final question in the setup was would you like a passcode.
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
