HFL hears "SEVEN" when I say "SEND"

I have an ongoing issue with the HFL.

After placing a call, I sometimes get a recorded privacy message from the called line that they do not accept anonymous calls and that, if I want my name and number to be displayed, I need to press the number "1".

I then push my phone button and say "1". The HFL says " ONE. Do you wish to send this number? If so say "send" otherwise continue adding numbers."

I say "SEND" and the HFL responds "SEVEN" and repeats the previous message about sending or adding numbers.

I have tried saying "SEND" several different ways, but it always hears it as "SEVEN".

Anyone know a work-around for this?

Yes the above might also help.

Also this might defeat the purpose of HFL. But just whoop out your phone and press "1". It beats dealing with HFL while you are in an active call trying to send that DTMF on time.

I used to say "send one" instead of "send" + "one", as well as I use "call Mike" instead of "call" + "mike".

Take engrish leeasssons... But seriously, just say "Send one" and try to announciate clearly. My system seems to have a problem with the way I say the number "TWO". About 50% of the time it puts an EIGHT in there. How it could EVER get 2 confused with 8 is beyond me. Maybe there's a software patch I can get that will help it with my Northern/Southern/Cajun flavor of speech?

After you say one and the system repeats it instead of saying send just push down and hold the talk/send button on the steering wheel. This will enter the one just like saying send would.

Doesn't work

Mike & rets: I tried saying "SEND ONE" as you both suggested. It doesn't work. It responds: "ONE. Say SEND or continue adding numbers." When I say "SEND", it responds "SEVEN" and puts the number 7 on the MID after the 1.

I always say "CALL MIKE" rather than "CALL" + "MIKE". No problem with that.

OK. That works! Instead of saying "SEND", I just press and hold the TALK button until it chirps and it sends the number 1.

Thanks. That will save me a lot of trouble.

And thanks Mike and rets for your efforts.

The HFL speech recognition is FAR inferior to that of the Navi unit. During this time of consolidating costs to improve efficiency and save $$, I can't imagine why they have 2 SEPARATE speech recognition systems in this car!

OK, I see that non-navi cars still need HFL ability, but why not use the same NAVI speech recognition software for NAVI as well as HFL?!?! Clearly the Navi recognition is better.

My biggest problem with HFL is when I am trying to dictate a phone # to be dialed. I get lost of "8" and "0" when I wanted other numbers. To improve recognition, I may need to pull to the side of the road to reduce wind noise but that defeats the whole purpose of HFL. If I were going to pull to the side of the road, I may as well use the stupid cell phone to dial!

Getting off my soapbox....I hate the HFL recognition.

When it says: "Would you like to send 1" press the HFL and say "Yes"

Not a choice.

It doesn't say that. It says: "ONE. Say 'SEND' or continue adding numbers."

If I say "SEND", it interprets it as a 7.

If I push and hold the TALK button on the steering wheel, it sends the number 1 appropriately.
