HFL Frozen on Phone Mode

Has anyone experienced this before. HFL is stuck in the Phone mode, radio will not come on or navigation commands not functional. When the vehicle is turned off the Maintenace Minder shows phone strenght and signal strenght after the car is turned off and key remove. I also hear a hissing sound through the speakers. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

I had a similar problem two weeks ago with my 04 SSM TL Navi Automotic. First when I tried to use the phonebook I was advised it was empty. I assumed that the phonebook had some how been deleted. When I attempted to put in a new number it told me the phonebook was full. I decided to delete the phone and put it in again. When I attempted to re-pair the phone it became stuck in HFL mode and I could not access the radio. The HFL will run for 20 minutes after the car is turned off so each time I restarted the car the audio system was still stuck in the HFL mode. However, the next morning the radio worked and the phone buttons were dead.

I took it to the dealer and they advised me the HFL unit needed replacement. $122 for the diagnostic, $726 for the unit, $54 for the labour to install plus taxes.

Bearcat94 provided me with the following link which may assist you. This is the TSB for problem HFL units on some 2004 TLs. http://www.in.honda.com/Rjanisis/pubs/SB/B05-020.PDF

Good luck.

I had that issue; HFL unit was replaced, delay box was installed, and they replaced one of the main control units for the nav/cc/seat mem.

If you're under warranty it will be free; if not it's up to the dealer to good will it or you pay..I feel sorry for the guy above who had to pay that much =/

This is from another longer similiar thread -

You can get the part for 295.00 so talk the dealer down or get another quote before you have this replaced. Or just do it yourself...
