HFL Booting Up
HFL Booting Up
Hi, I have an 04 TL and the HFL has stopped working. When selected via the dashboard button, it displays "BOOTING UP". The steering wheel buttons have no affect whatsoever.
Is there a way to reset it?
TIA

Happen more than once?
Does this problem recur after you have turned off the car and parked for 20 minutes or so? If not, it may have been a one-time glitch; this happened on my '05 once in May or June 2005, then never returned after the car was parked for a couple of hours thereafter.
Using the search function, you will find a couple of threads here about TLs with defective HFL units which were replaced, but the defective units had issues with connection and transmission/reception rather than boot-up.
You can also try pulling the fuse for the HFL unit to reset it (which is easier than disconnecting the battery, which will require you to re-enter various radio and navigation system codes).

Repeats
Thanks for the reply. Yes indeed, it has persisted for a few days.
Great idea on the fuse.....by any chance would you know which one does it? None appear to be labeled close to the mark.
Thanks!

I don't know which fuse, but the thread offers a couple of options (11, 13???) and mentions a couple of other possible issues. A visit to the dealer service dept. would be advisable if fuse disconnection doesn't solve the problem.

Thanks so much for the replies, your guidance got it fixed!! Saved me from having to make an appointment and drive a couple of cars over to the dealer (I live in a rural area).
It was fuse #6, labeled as "Lights". I looked and indeed the dome light went out when I pulled it.
Its back on line and connecting just fine.
Thanks again!!
