Hey! This Stock Stereo is Pretty Good!
(2007 TL-S)
I am no Audiofile. And I'm too GD old to put in a custom rig that'll blow the skirts off of young girls (besides, SWMBO wouldn't like that - ).
So, the Stock Audio it is for me.
I burned a bunch of MP3's to disc the other day and I must say they sound Great! Much better than the FM or XM. Most were ripped or downloaded at 192 or VBR. A few at 128.
I got so used to hearing these files on PC speakers and/or ear buds, I had no idea how good they's sound on a halfway decent set up.
And the Dolby 5.1 makes 'em sound even better. With the Dolby on, the sound seems to be centered much better with little or no reduction in the clarity of the sound. Ain't technology great?

LOL. OK, how about:
To GD many responsiblities to afford a custom rig that'll blow the skirts off of young girls (besides, SWMBO wouldn't like that - ).
Seriously, I was surprised and pleased at how good it sounded. Up until a couple days ago, I had only listened to XM (mainly) or FM. And the 5.1 applied to XM sounds pathetic.

LOL,
I'm 48. I have a custom rig with custom sound and a CarPC too. I don't do it for the girlies, I never did and never will. It's all for me.
The best part.........I did it all myself
My wife calls it OCD, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
I think she's probably right. HEHEHE

YAH channel 80-83 play some good tunes. The DVD audio disks sound great! Much louder and clearer, plus much more imaging. I bought several DVD, DTS audio discs and WOW! Great sound. Wish it had a few more watts on XM, but good enough.

I agree-- the stereo system is pretty darn good; I have no need for more bass or different imaging.
Of course it's possible that might be due to age-related decreases in the ability to hear extended high and low frequencies, but I don't go above 30 on volume while some of the whippersnappers start from 30 and go up.

I'm an ex-audiophile junkie...and I think the '07 TL-S stock radio is pretty damn good. I don't listen at the levels I used to, but at levels of 25-30, the system sounds great and the music can still be FELT! I'm totally happy with it and have no inspirations of changing a damn thing.
