Sounds good. I boosted the 40hz again... find it hard to set those low frequencies properly. If I am using the amps boost at 40 hz do you know if frequencies at 80 hz should be effected? (Assuming crossover is set over 80)

To be honest...you'd need to boost the hell outta everything below 40hz to get flat response. Your low end is probably pretty bad right now. I HIGHLY suggest just picking up a sealed box or building/buying a ported box that's low tuned. I'm sure you could sell that box on Craigslist as people love blingy ported boxes tuned high for that "everyone look at me" style.

i guess. i think i am going to build a smaller sealed box at some point but it sounds pretty satisfactory right now. arge sealed seems ok. i settled on a 3db boost to 40hz and the sub really adds to the whole system a sense of realism. i imagine it has something to do with a relatively fat response. not sure i want flat to 30. its nice not shake at low volume too.

Build/Buy a ported box tuned to 30hz or lower OR pick up a large sealed enclosure and then repeat that statement with a straight face. Dare you! lol

The lower end can definitely add to the fullness of the system, but if you're dropping off a table at 40hz and under you're not doing much better than the stock sub, just louder. You can purchase a sealed box for CHEAP! Some sealed boxes are built with 5/8" MDF and are poor quality, but SonicElectronix boxes are actually pretty damn good. Ported is a different story b/c you end up with the 40hz + tuned boxes to appeal to the masses! Crappy

i have a couple bass sweep tracks on my phone i cannot tell any weakness or even in the trunk on a sweep to 200. i like the boost on this amp. 40hz works nicely. how would the slope typically look before the 40hz?

Yeah that one's fine too. Not sure what that sub calls for in a sealed enclosure, but usually man. specs are on the small side.

Also, a sweep UP to 200hz doesn't really mean much. That's midbass and your sub shouldn't be playing that. Before 40hz you want it as flat as possible (given that a gradual rise isn't likely) and most will be flat(ish) to about 25ish.

the sweep is for level adjustment and the sweep tells me i have fairly flat response along with the right level to integrate with my system.

You do level adjustments with a sweep?! Damn...you're quick then lol. You gotta know at what time each frequency is playing, etc. Just download the Autosound CD's and go to town. You only need to level adjust until you crossover, then your slope should take over or you can purposely just drop it like a damn rock like I do. I have 0 bass from my subs after 120hz. And 120hz takes quite a hit on my EQ. That's midbass territory.

I can make the Autosound CD's if people want them. Should be cheap to ship through USPS. I've got Autosound 101, 102, 104, Focal Test CD's, 1/3 Octave's in WAV and mp3, etc lol.

heh my adjustments arent very complicated. bass boost and amp gain. i use sound form on my android phone to determine specific frequency response. Left my stock system at bass -2 and treble +1. 20-20k also not bad.
