1) honestly, if that part of the install is troubling you, I'd stop and take it to a professional, or at least find a buddy that really knows what they are doing. Not a "yeah, i install stuff here and there" kinda buddy.
2) In the interest of being helpful, ground it to chassis metal...aka a ground, 12v and switched 12v can be had at the amp, the radio the fuse box or ignition harness.
3) The cleansweep is really not needed in the TL if you grab signal before the factory amp. All the DSP is in the amp so the only reason you'd need a cleansweep is if you went after...which in this car doesn't make sense. The only thing a cleansweep will really do for you is give you a line driver (you could use an Audio Control Matrix for cheaper) and or an aux in which can be done w/ a USA Spec or iSimple.

i also got the cleansweep for 50 bucks off some guy that didnt even get to install it in his car.
i also went earlier to a shop to see how much it would cost just to wire this and he was trying to charge 65 for 1 hour when i know this job could be done in no more that 20 min if that.
i know the simplistic part of it but ive seen three different schematics of the wiring... i have the wiring diagram of the speakers only but im missing the other pages. this is why i ask.

And it doesn't matter what you paid, it is still not needed in this car. And I am a huge JL nutswinger.
