HELP!: removing navi dvd reader for serial code
HELP!: removing navi dvd reader for serial code
I got into an accident with my car where my navigation deck had to be replaced.
the dealer doesnt have the info, the codes that i used to have in the car don't work. only way for me to retrieve the code is to remove the deck and get the serial number and input the serial online to get my navi code.
can someone please explain to me on how to remove the deck so i can retrieve my code? i'm pretty noobie at workin on these car things and i dont want to destroy anything. please help.
thanks,
jeff

Jeff -
I don't have an answer for you but I hope somebody chimes in. I just bought my 05 w/ Nav and didn't get the codes from the previous owner. I read a few posts here that say you can get the navi serial from the nav diagnostics menu (hold down nav, menu & cancel buttons). However, when I went online to get the codes based on my VIN, serial numbers, etc. it says that you can't get the nav serial from the menu, that you have to pull out the nav dvd reader (in the trunk) and get it from that. However, most of the guys on here say you have to pull out the actual nav unit (in the dash) to get to the serial number (I think). Anyway, I'm in the same boat as you - any help is definitely appreciated!
