So, my friends help me installed led underglows onto my car, he unhooked the battery so now my radios Fred and my navigations outta whack. I want to replace it with an afternarket radio but they're telling me I have to get one with navigation or my navigation now won't work, and to top it off my navigation is connected to all the buttons that control my air conditioning.. And they now said in order to replace it I have to have a special conversion kit, any suggestions on what I should do.

 

Or what that conversion kit they're talking about is called?

 

First, that's karma for putting neons on an Acura TL...hell ANY car!! Ok, maybe a little harsh, but seriously take them off. Secondly, I would be making that friend pay for whatever needs fixing because he f'd it up. I'm not quite sure I understand "what" the problem is. Can you please help us with what you mean by "the radio is fried and nav is out of whack"

 

Um I'm a chick and my car looks badass the fact that I'm a chick idgaf if people thinks it looks tacky. It has pink accents. And I've already smoked several guys in races to shut them up. And my navigation can't find where I'm at and jut can't seem to locate an everytime I reset it it does the same thing. And as for my radio the system is still working when we tested it we think that since we unplugged the battery it friend because the power warrants from the back of the radio is still showing and the fuse isn't blown so idk I was told that I have to replace the whole thing but if I get a new radio than I'm going to have to make sure it has navigation but the bad part is the controls to my air conditioner and stuff is on the navi plate. So id have to get a conversion kit which o have no idea what it is.

 

Also I didn't ask for opinions on what I decide to put on my car, I ask for options on how I can put in an after market radio with navi but still have my controls for the air conditioner to work

1) Did you or your friends check the fuses or continuity in the fuseboxes in the driver's footwell and under the hood?

2) What do you mean "radios Fred"-- is the radio dead, asking for a code, or generating any message?

3) If all else fails, unhook the battery for 15 minutes, then reattach to see if the radio and Navi work or ask for codes. If they ask for codes, enter them and cross your fingers.

1. Neons...why? Lose them. It looks ridiculous and only gives you unwanted attention.

"Unwanted attention" is the "hey, look at me as my car is glowing." Being that you street race in your TL, which is pointless and retarded in 2 ways, you don't want any more attention from cops than you are already gaining from those decisions. Just because you can do it....doesn't mean you should.

BTW, 99% of the time, blue or RED!! neons are ILLEGAL!

I wouldn't be quick to declare the radio you had dead until I checked all sources for power, switched and un-switched, for voltage. It's possible you blew a fuse that isn't immediately apparent to you, although in such a case you'd likely notice other faults in the car. It's probably gone, but since you didn't clarify what circuits/leads were checked, I have little to go on...

...and don't be so harsh on the guys for questioning you on the races you won. It's pretty common knowledge that the 3rd gen TL chassis is given to tons of torque steer, and would have difficulty, without a lot of overly-expensive suspension work to start, coming up with an appreciable amount of usable hp over 300. There are certain cars the TL can beat stock, and there are other cars the TL can't (and among the "can'ts" are a large number of rwd sport-sedans and tons of coupes). It has nothing to do with skill for many match-ups, and anyone racing against a stock TL would, if they were worth a squirt as a driver, realize this and consider the facts in their decision-making. It's hard to find people bragging about racing their TL for this very reason: The car, by virtue of its inherent design, is just not built for such endeavors. It's a sporty sedan made for style, competent handling and a decent amount of passing power for a highway driver. Sure, you can improve the car quite a bit with various modifications, but dollar for dollar, if racing is your purpose, there are plenty of chassis out there that offer far more than the TL could on its best day.
