Help With Navi please!!!
Help With Navi please!!!
I just bought a 2006 TL. The navi seem to work fine with all the options but on the third day my son open up the trunk and put a dvd movie on the navi's drive. I put the navi dvd back on the drive, but now my navi won't give me directions to any destination, it will only show me the street name. does anybody know or has heard anything like this and how to fix it???? anything will be greatly appreciated

1. With the Navi dvd in the drive, insert key and turn ignition so that navi boots up.
2. Press and hold "GUIDE" "MENU" and "CANCEL" for approx 5 seconds to bring up the diagnostic menu.
3. Wait another 5 seconds to let it load up completely. Press "version" button on the screen
4. Press "LOAD DISC". Wait for it to reinstall the software.
Hope this works.
hey i just restarted my navi and it didn't work that way.. I unplugged the battery for about 10 min and then the whole system reset. now it shows me the map and the system is a lot faster, i only need to get directions to places..
thanks for the help I'll keep updating!!!!
So when you push to enter the destination, fill it all in, it doesn't giv eyou directions? If so, you might be on the screen to choose from 5 different routes, make sure you are not on that screen. Also make sure you are on a road and not in your driveway as it will not give directions when "off roading" I fno voice directions are being given, or you do not see the split screen, check your setting s and change them n the setup box.

If so, check the navi disc for scratches or debris.
If it's clean, then you may have a faulty dvd drive. If it's under warranty, then you should be fine. Take it to the dealership and have them fix it.
If not, you're still ok but it will cost you some $$ to fix. Should be about $150 to fix (flat rate repair rate that Alpine (manufacturer of the drive) charges) as long as you don't need a replacement ($2000).
Good luck.
Sounds like all ziners with children need to put some gorilla tape across the dvd opening-
It will not play dvd no matter how much you want it to,
nor will feeding it a peanut butter and banana sandwich make it play Elvis cds!

thanks for all the help!!! I still haven't been able to fix the damn thing.. I finally had the time to take it to the dealership today , the dvd has 2 big scratches so they'll try ordering a dvd first if not then I'll try fixing the dvd drive... thanks!!!
I had my son when I was 16 years old, not that i had to explain to you how old my son is, he is 8 years old and he already knows how to operate ps3, xbox and a DVD PLAYER !!!! again thanks for all those that are helping out !!
