Angry Help - Nav system in loop!

After trying to update my nave firmware with the ok button workaround and trip computer, my system is continually looping on the logo screen and I can't seem to get around it. Pressing and holding guide/menu/cancel doesn't do a thing. Any other way to get the system to reboot to the diagnostic screen when it's in this state? Help!

A few things you can try:

1) Remove the fuse/battery and leave the system off for a while and hope that it resets itself.

2) Remove the navi disk from the DVD ROM and force the system to fail when it is trying to load. It should give you an error message. Then you can reinsert the disk and try to get into diagnostic mode with guide/menu/cancel.

Good luck!

you can also use the 2 pin connector to force the system into diag mode

Thanks for these replies. No luck with removing the disk, and a brief battery disconnect hasn't helped either. I can try a longer one over the weekend, but I'm intrigued by the "two pin connector" suggestion. How do I go about that?

after you did the hack using the burned disk, you did put in the original nav disk again right?

Might be a stupid question, but worth asking either way.

it's under the carpet near the Navi drive in the trunk. it's a 2 pin connector that is connected to nothing, just put a paperclip in it, turn the car on, and the navi with go directly in diag mode

also it will be taped down to a wire loom with blue tape, you can easily see it in the pic below

Thanks to all for the advice - and especially to rbf351 for the helpful photo. I've tried it all, with no luck. It looks like it's dealer time. bummer.

Hey - great news! A 2-hr battery disconnect forced the diagnostic screen to come up. Problem solved!

Thanks again for all of the helpful replies!
