Help me figure out what I've got here...
Just bought an '04 TL from a dealer. Previous owner put in a DVD player and headrest monitors. There's a couple things I don't get about the install. Pics below:
Headrest monitor (Icon TV)

DVD player under passenger seat (Boss)

2 mysterious RCA jacks under glove box

SAVV remote thingy

So, any idea what those last 2 things are? I haven't gotten it to play audio through the stereo but I can watch movies. Also what about the quality of the equipment?

If your XM is not working then maybe those RCAs are connected to the XM input on the head unit. It is sort of a cheap way of getting an AUX input.
Your movies appear on the Nav screen or just the headrests ?

I think you need to get all the part numbers from the individual components and google them. Savv comes up with a few hits for DVD players and headrest mounted LCD screens, but you might have some leg work to do. mp3car.com is a good source of info on this sort of stuff.

It looks as though those RCAs under the glove box are for an external audio source (I.E. for plugging in an iPod or other mp3 player). My own dvd player has the ability to play an external video source but that has 3 rcas (1 video and 2 for left/right audio). Since there are only 2 rca's, I'm assuming that they are strictly for audio input.
It is also possible that those RCA's are coming from the Savv unit. That remote control looks like it will allow you to switch audio sources.
Try this:
Play your video and then use the Savv remote to toggle through inputs...you might get audio for your dvd's that way.
I can only guess that the RCA's under the glove box are also controlled by the Savv remote, or by the Boss dvd player. Try plugging in a media device to the RCA's, then toggle through the inputs using the Savv remote. If you don't get sound, then switch the Savv to the input that allows for audio for your DVD's. Once you get that dialed in, try switching the Boss dvd player to 'Aux In' if your player allows you to do that. You might get audio that way.
Again, I don't know the capabilities of your equipment but the above is based off my experience w/ my equipment.
I also don't know if your Savv is being used to 'tap' audio into your system but if it is, you may need to try a few other things, all depending if the Savv unit taps in from audio lines in, or XM plug or through FM modulation.
Let me know what happens when you try these things....

You guys rock - So I play the DVD, press the XM button and flip through the SAVV thing and bam! Movie audio! I plugged an iPod into the RCA jacks under the glove box, hit the button on the SAVV thing, bam! iPod audio! Pretty sweet. Only thing that's wrong is that the passenger-side headrest monitor doesn't seem to want to power on... probably a loose wire or fuse or something somewhere. At any rate, I'm very pleased! Thanks again.
Thats a nice system to start off with. Congrats!
As for your headrest monitor, have you tried looking for a switch somewhere?
There are two popular interfaces to the TL to allow video to display on the nav screen: TVandNav2Go and AVElectronics. The AVElectronics is the popular one to use when headrests are involved. Check out this thread for possible solutions: INSTALLED: AVELECTRONICS video switcher, with TV Tuner... Awesome!
