is this just a light that serves the purpose of showing you have an alarm? Though I think it's somewhat cheesy, but I would think you need to wire it into a constant power with a relay that connects to the cig lighter so when the car is on, it doesn't blink, but when the car is off it will blink.

It's been some years since I've wired one of those Varad scanners on an old
Pontiac Grand Prix I used to own....

But, if I remember correctly, the scanner had three wires that needed to be connected:

1. A wire with a constant power source (can easily be found in the fuse box or directly to the positive side of battery.)

2. The ignition wire. You'll need to tap/splice into that. (I know it was a pink wire under the steering column of many GM cars. You'll need to find out which wire it is for your specific make, model and year.)

3. The ground (negative) wire.

The Varad scanner would be activated/on only when the ignition/car is off. When the car is started and running, the scanner would be "off".

(Your Varad scanner should have come with installation instructions)

for the ignition wire, tap the cig lighters fuse, and for the constant, the radio fuse should work.
