Help with Dom's Pnp/Rear Camera Install
Help with Dom's Pnp/Rear Camera Install
I'm starting to really regret doing this
Anyways... I wired up the Dom's PnP.. that was easy enough... I had to go to work and I took my car... My navi worked fine then.
After work, I started working on the rest... and now I can't figure it out. One... Wendy's camera Video cable doesn't reach far enough to Dom's unit... Am I supposed to extend it? B/C in the DIY it doesn't mention it.
On the 18 gauge wires.. does it matter if you match the red/black w/ the stripe/no stripe wire?
Plus now the navi doesnt work now
I'm going to sleep b/c I'm aggravated and tired.
Thanks for any help.

Hi Kevin,
1) Where did you install/mount Dom's unit?
I installed mine behind the liner on the right (passenger) side of the trunk. From here, Wendy's video cable reaches fine.
2) Not sure which 18 gauge wires you are talking about here. Do you have a multimeter? You can get them for about $10. It will help you determine which wire is the power source.
3) If your navi worked and then it suddenly doesn't, it probably means something got loose. Dom's unit needs to be powered for the navi to work even if nothing is connected to the inputs.
Good luck with figuring this out. It will all be worth it in the end.

Alrighty
1.) I put Dom's unit right where you put yours too
... now that worries me. hmmm.
2.) The wire.. problem.. doesnt matter anymore... I solved the problem.
3.) Stupid wire was loose, now it works and the Dom's PnP is fully functionally.
Now I blew a fuse and the windows won't roll up, gauge lights won't work, this is really turning into a hassle.. lol

Okay.. this is what I'm talking about... that is my camera mounted... this is how much wire slack I have... the Video attachment will prob add about 6 more inches but thats it.
See... that's enough to reach dom's unit

lmao.. you have to give me more credit than that... i know about the RCA plug..haha.
Here is a pic:

See.. it doesnt even extend it more than a couple more inches
Dunno what to do.
P.S. Got everything up and operational, except mounted (obviously) Thanks for all your help

Be careful at the end of the install. Make sure you give your wires enough slack that when you close the trunk the wires don't come loose. Close the trunk slowly and keep an eye on the wires and you'll see what I mean.
Looking forward to seeing your final results.
