Exclamation Help - Amp won't turn off

I installed 2 10" subs this weekend.
Everything works and sounds great -however, I am using the cigarette lighter fuse for my remote connection but the amp is not turning off.

I tried various different fuses but the amp keeps staying on when the car is turned off.

Any suggestions?

the problem you are having is because you are using the cigarette lighter connection. the amp remote is VERY sensitive and the cigarette lighter still has enough power goin to it to turn the amp even when you turn your car off.

wire it directly to the wire that corresponds to the ON position on your ignition.
it has less power going to it when its on so its safer for your amp, and when you turn your car off the wire is completely dead for security purposes.

rewire your remote and you will be all set, plus if you want to listen to your radio without having the amp turn on (if ur working on your car and dont want to waste gas) all you gotta do is turn the key to ACC and only ur radio will turn on and not the amp.

Enjoy ur bass once youre done!!!

Question: where exactly can I identify this wire? Is it the wire in the fuse box? The actual harness for the ignition? Can you clearify for me? Thanks again.

I used this fuse in the past... I think it was Fuse #9???? the problem is that that fuse leads to a relay and then to the cigarette lighters... at the fuse it is constant ON (HOT) but after the relay and at the cigarette lighters it turns off with ignition...

You would have to either use fuse #32 or tap into the white wire at the cigarette lighter... Problem solved...

get yourself a voltage detector from autozone and there will be 4 thick wires coming from your steering column check them until you get voltage when you put the key in the ON position then follow it to a good position and tap into it.

Fuse #29 is an ignition fuse and it should be empty.

I tapped into slot 31. Check post 58 on the second page of my installation page:
