Exclamation HELP! - 04 Navi/Base - Asus Zenpad 8 Install?

Hi all,

I have came across many Nexus 7 Installs (Navi/Non-Navi). It's 2018 and i am tired of the low quality navi and poor screen display and controls with it but i cant seem to find no brand new nexus cheaper than $250. So my main question will be, Can i have a ASUS Zenpad 8 Installed with the similar steps to the nexus 7 install? or Would i need a whole new diagram setup?

Thanks in advance!

Asus Zenpad 8.0 Size:
Length: 8.22 Inches
Width: 4.84 Inches
Thickness: .33 inches

1. Nexus 7 is 7.87 inch wide, Zenpad is 8. Nexus 7 barely fits in the car's frame (it already requires some trimming). You would need to dig into the climate buttons to make extra space needed for this tablet. Now what if you would like to use USB or headphone jack? Need even more extra room.

2. Screen is also bigger (7' vs 8'), so either part of it would be covered, or you would need to trim the bezel even more. It's hard to make it look good.

3. Can it use OTG and charging at the same time? Are there any custom roms useful for that application? (I don't know, you would need to search, try XDA)

If you want to try, buy non-navi (or navi) bezel on ebay and the tablet and try.
If it works don't forget to post some photos (and if it doesn't, you can post them as well)

The nexus is the best for modding because it uses vanilla android. Not sure about the others.

not sure why you won't go with a used nexus. i got mine for $70 bucks off craigslist and it's been flawless for 2 years. i even created a nice DIY write up for anyone to follow
but post your results if you're able to make it work, it's not an easy task for the nexus let alone a new tablet, good luck!

Isn't that Zenpad actually worse than nexus? Look at the screen resolution, CPU, ram, internal storage.

At this point it might be better to get 7' screen and connect it to one of those HDMI stick computers.

Finding quality touch screen would be the hardest part, but if stick would be running windows, then you're better than Android tablet.

Then get USB GPS, USB DAC, etc.

Would be more expensive and harder. However, If done correctly would be more capable and configurable than nexus.

I dont care for the resolution, really just more interested in the fact it hasn't been done and bigger screen i may be looking into another Tablet (prefer ASUS) but if i cant find anything that catches my attention i will end up doing the Nexus 7.

Just want something different...

that's an odd way of looking at it.
you should be looking at it this way; ease of installation, ease of fitment, etc.
if the Zenpad can be easily installed, can easily fit, can easily do all the things the nexus 7 can, then you're in luck.

if it cant do those things; then you're own your own and you will be fighting the install EVERY WHICH WAY.
the only reason why people are still using the nexus 7 is because it can easily fit, it can easily OTG + Charge and there are easy DIY instructions.
Why re-invent the wheel?

As i see it, "Why settle for less."

So far my setup seems okay of what i have plan with rewiring and fittings it will take way longer than a normal install due to measuring, cutting, relocating the Climate controls, and fiber glassing but time and patience is the key.

That's different than what your original post states.
with this thinking, Go for it! But remember, you are on your own.

your original post asked if the wiring diagram would be the same.
if it's a different device, with different ports, with different features.
