Question Heated Seats/Mirrors Amp Draw???

I'm going to wire up some relays to my car alarm so the heated seats and mirrors turn on when it's cold outside; however, I'm not sure how many Amps the heated seats or mirrors use.

I have an electrical manual for my 2005 Acura TL on the way but I'm not sure if it even provides that information or not. Can anybody tell me for sure what EACH seat uses on High power and what both mirrors use together?? Thanks.

Not sure if this helps, but -

I have an 04 TL service manual that I downloaded from somewhere (can't remember) and according to the circuit diagram for the heated seats they run through the following -

Under - Hood Fuse / Relay Box

#22 - (120A) and #23 - (50A) via the ignition switch to the under - dash Fuse / Relay Box #30 - (7.5A) to the seat heater relay to the switch to the seat heater.
Parallel to
#22 - (120A) and #20 - (40A) to the under - dash Fuse / Relay Box - #15 (20A) to the seat heater relay to the switch to the seat heater.

The seat heater relay rating isn't in the circuit diagram, but I'm sure I can find it if it helps.
If you want me to do the same for the mirrors I can as well.

Wow, thats a lot of info. Hmmm ... I see some pretty big amperage ratings on there ... another person installing an alarm said they'd only recommend 1 Amp relays for the seats but it looks like the smallest was 7.5 Amps from what you listed. I myself figured they drew a lot and was preparing to use 10 Amp relays for each individual seat ... Based on that info do you think thats enough or will i need even bigger?

Yeah if u have info on the mirrors current draw I'd certainly like to see that since I meed to wire that up to and dont wanna fry anything or have a fire in the car.

BTW, Thanks for taking the time to look this up for me!

Not sure where the post I just received in my email went to but yes I was planning on running the in parallel to the current relays just so I can turn the seats on; however, now that you mention it, if the seats already have they're own relay, perhaps I can figure a way to diode isolate and activate the factory relay. I guess I have to look at the electric manual and see what's going on with these circuits.

That was me, I posted before looking it up. Didn't want to give bad info so I deleted it.

Mirrors don't have relays as I stated originally and all the info you need is in the ETM.

For the current draw, just put an ammeter on one side of the switches and get a reading. If you want to get relays that are sufficient then just get them larger than the fuses on each circuit.

I may be wrong, but i thought the seats didnt heat up unless you were sitting in it.

I don't see anything in the circuitry that would lead me to believe this is correct. I would expect to see some sort of weight sensor or something, but don't. Maybe it's there and not labeled? There is a thermostat with regulates temperature between 77 and 95 degrees
I guess the test would be to turn the seat heater on while empty to see what happens.

Looks somewhat similar to the seat heaters -

Under -Hood Fuse/Relay Box #22 (120A) and #15 (40A) to Under - Dash Fuse/Relay Box #6 (7.5A) and #7 (7.5A) to Power Mirror Control Unit.

In Parallel to

Under - Hood Fuse / Relay Box #22 (120A) and #23 (50A) to Ignition switch to Under - Dash Fuse/Relay Box #20 (7.5A) and #30 (7.5A) to the Power Mirror Switch to the Mirrors.

I know that I'm replying to 9 years old thread, but I've been looking for this info and couldn't find it.

For current and resistance for driver's seat heater look at:
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-p.../#post16660161

For heated mirrors, at around 60F:
- my bad mirror draws 0.3A at 12V (and fails to evaporate water quickly or melt ice)
- my other "presumed good" mirror draws 1.3A at 12V
- my brand new mirror draws 1.4A at 12V

All of the mirrors have around same resistance when measured with multimeter so it doesn't matter and I won't post it.

Current will decrease over time - they must use PTC heater. For example brand new mirror, after around 1 minute, is noticeably warm to touch, and it's current draw decreased to 1.1A.
