Headunit installation price opinions needed please.

Two days ago i got my subs installed in my TL for $150 bucks with wires and all included. I was going to get my headunit installed also but they asked for little to much than what i thought was going to be.
Im trying to install a kenwood dnx8120 they are asking $500 for the install.

They said work needed to be customly made etc...

Just wondering if thats a ripoff or reasonable price.

Also I have a non navi TL, thats the main reason im getting an aftermarket Navi installed.
I was wondering if i got a LCD color screen just to have another screen for tv and replace that with the current black&white LCD for the A/C and bluetooth, would that be a hard install?
Where would i see the air condition sign if i did that? I dotn really use bluetooth so that doesnt really matter.

Any help would be very appriciated.

Thank you.

you will need that top LCD for the HVAC, but you can spend a bit of money and get it to operate using the top clock area, you will need to rewire it all, get the 2004-2006 TL navigation screen, and as well the upper display from the navi model.

Leave that LCD there, and just replace the stock radio with whichever one you want to. Your installer was right, it has to be custom fitted. I would PM Cs-supercharged and talk to him since he got his done.

Thank you for the replys. I actually showed the shop your picture of the indash and they said it would cost around $500 and said would be a slight difficult job. They also need my car for 3~4 days at least they said. Not sure why.

Thanks for the replys. Will see how it goes next monday when i bring it for installtion.
