Head Unit? Aux swap?

I am trying to swap out the stock CD Changer for a media device. Trying to unplug CD and use that wire.

Is this the head unit here?

I'm pretty sure that's ECU.

How you plan to unplug the CD changer? Small flat ribbon cable connects the CD to the rest of the radio, and it's under the cover, behind the radio. To access to that wire you would need to take the radio out, and that require dissembling the whole center console.

Maybe you want to access the amp? It's on passenger right side, behind one of plastic panels.

Give more info and somebody might help. Also it would be good idea to get service manual from this forum to know what the wires do (pinout for the connector).

Trying to unplug wire from head unit to the CD changer. And plug that into an input with aux. My changer has a disc stuck anyways.

Yeah just remove the radio and unplug the XM port and plug it into there, I believe thats where most Honda/Acura AUX devices plug into.

You can unplug the CD player harness without removing the entire radio. It's a really awkward angle but it worked for me and I guarantee it was faster than disassembling the entire center dash to get the radio out (and less broken trim clips).

I have small womanly hands I was totally not able to do it. Removing the dash trim glovebox and all takes 15 minutes top if you're used to it, and doesn't destroy your manucure.

Plus this alternate method is already half the job done. :S

I was gonna say, the video shows him 90% close to removing the radio!
The only steps required left were to undo screws for cubby storage/shift and and lift out. Then undo 4 bolts that hold the display/radio (need to pop center vent off to access two top bolts).

It's not worth losing skin to the sharp edges.

I gave up with removing the radio pretty quick because I couldn't get the center vent out haha. I chewed the edges up enough trying to pry it out and didn't want to make my day even better by breaking the tabs/clips off.

Both methods work, do which ever makes your life easier.

That's probably the hardest part, I'll give you that, it's on snug. Best not to pry it with a tool otherwise as you said you'll chew up the plastic.

Something like this is ideal, slide it in, twist, pull.

I use a battery tie down, as per someone's recommendation on here.

MotoMaster Battery Hold-Down Bolts, 8-in | Canadian Tire

I used to dread taking off that center vent but this tool gets the job done in 3 seconds
