HDC4 15 in rear deck...help
HDC4 15 in rear deck...help
I want to put an audioque hdc4 15 in the rest deck.. and not have an ib setup.
I would still seal off the front wave from the back like you would in an ib but would it be better if I put a wall up behind the sub also. To make it like 4 cubes and just have basically a sealed box but with the sub in the rest deck.
And if that is possible I have another question.
Is it possible to make the ski pass opening a port? I think if I could do this this system would be so clean looking and it would act as if it was in a hatch and bounce off the back window...
Please let me know if it is possible $
And $ is not a huge issue.
I just want opinions and advice
Thankyou acurezine

I like different ideas and I like the idea of a ported 15 but its going to be a huge undertaking to get it in the deck. If you want something different you could fire it through the armrest traditionally but fire the port through the stock sub hole.
What are your goals? It looks like you have a pair of 15s already. You could use those IB. It wouldn't be as loud as a single 15 ported but it would still get loud and have a flatter frequency response and dig extremely low with ease. If you tune a ported box to go as low as IB its going to lose some of its efficiency and output is going to be similar down low with IB able to hit the upper notes better.
Ported is a great idea, but I would not even attempt a 15 in the deck.

^^ I agree to modify that deck to become stiff enough to work at all would be a huge undertaking, if even possible. I just do not see how any benefits to this location could possibly justify the amount of work that it would take to try and achieve it.
I'm asking if it is possible. I want to put one 15 in the rear deck. To where it bounces off the back window to act as if it was bouncing off a hatch. And then I got technical with it and was wondering if I could have the sub sit in the rear deck and then have it ported through the ski pass somehow
yeah, that's not gonna sound too good.
It's bad enough that hdc4's are complete spl subs and don't sound so great in the first place.
Put it in a ported box, tune high, and call it a day. That sub was built to chase numbers, not listen to music.
