Hardwire Radar Detector -> broken NAV?

Hey folks,

Can you tell me if you think these two things are related?

I was hardwiring my radar detector into the switched power in the area powering the rear-view mirror and sun roof switch. The next time I powered on the car, I got an error saying something along the lines of DVD Disc Reading Error - Consult Your Dealer.

I think it's coincidence, but maybe it's not. I removed the hardware (inviscord) but the problems remain. I ejected the DVD, inspected it (no scratches) and put it back in and still the error remains.

Any ideas, on if this can be fixed with dropping lots of $$?

Thanks!

I hardwired my detector with no Nav issues. Check your fuses- perhaps one blew.

It is not nav related...I think it maybe a fuse as well. When in doubt, check the fuses first.

+1 on what they^^ said. It's probably caused by either a blown fuse, or the fact that you could have just bumped one the wrong way or something while installing your radar.

RE Hardwiring, running a regular wire up the A pillar and across the top of the windscreen is also extremely easy to do and doesn't require modifying anything permenantly.

I had an invisicord on my Vette and was less than in love with it. I didn't want to solder it and over time it kept loosening up and cutting power to the mirror.

OP: Can you access the nav diagnostics (Hold Map, Menu + Cancel)? If so you might be able to run one of the self checks, that may show you what is failing.

Also does the DVD drive still have power? IE can you eject the DVD?
