Handsfree hard of hearing

Is it me or does anyone else have this problem? When I am speaking using the handsfree I have to really speak loud or people have a hard time hearing me.

Does anyone know where the mic is located?

I use a Motorola V3 Razr.

Thanks for the input.

I have a 2004 and find that mine is crappy too (for interpreting phone commands). The 2005 model (service loaner) appeared better. The RL trumps both (much quicker and more accurate) and repeats commands back to you.

These are independent of the actual device - a SonyEricsson T616, Treo 650 and Blackberry 7290 all work well (proper volume), whereas a SonyEricsson S710a had VERY low volume while on a call.

Same here. I have a RAZR and before that an Sony T637. On all the calls the people I was talking to sounded great, but me talking to them at my normal volume was too low. I have increased my volume and directed my voice toward the rear view mirror.

I've not had a problem on my 04 with callers hearing my voice when I speak in a normal tone. However, the HFL sometimes gets stupid about interpreting my commands. I get frustrated when I say, "call home" and she says back, "would you like to call 'home'?" I then say, "Yes." and she says, "Pardon?" over and over until I practically yell, "YESSSS!" in an over-annunciated way.

My 05 repeats the voice commands on the HFL allowing you to confirm. callers are often shocked I am in a car with the clarity. I have had issue with the HFL understanding the number 2. When using voice menus, it understands multiple digits, just not 2. I have to say "Send 2", it repeats "2,,,,say Send". If I just say '2'.... I get 'Pardon' or it changes the damn XM channel! Weird.

Maybe the voice command was updated?

I'm wondering if it can be upgraded. Say the microphone and such.

to confirm a call just hold down the phone button rather than speaking yes, the hfl with dial the number for you without having to yell "yessssss"

I found that this doesn't always work with the v710--if I do this to confirm dialing a number (i.e., initiating a call), the phone will dial and will immediately hang up when the other person picks up. I have to say "YES" when starting a call. But if I already have a call in progress and I want to "send" numbers (like if I'm logging into my office voicemail), holding down the phone button works fine. Weird. I don't know if upgrading the phone's firmware would help; I've not bothered yet because I haven't had the time and because I keep forgetting.

To return to the original topic, most people I call have no trouble hearing me with the exception of my father, but then he has trouble even when we use our landline phones so I suspect it's his hearing. The HFL lady, on the other hand, doesn't seem to hear too well even if I'm stopped and the climate control is turned off. If I dial a 202 area code number, for example, she always wants to dial "2002" even if I say it slowly. I spent a good hour programming numbers that I use regularly because of this problem, but at least it usually works OK with people's names. If it doesn't recognize a name, I found that "Phonebook—List" works pretty well, because the HFL always seems to understand "Call" or "Dial."
