Address input

Maybe I'm just being stupid, but I'm having a hard time putting a simple address destination into navi (have had my TL for 2 days) I begin typing my city and it comes up with cities that I do not want, nor does my city often appear in the list. I don't see a way to continue, so I give up.

So, I tried street. As soon as I start typing the number of the house or business I get it's "smart find" menu thing again and I can't seem to input any more.... am I missing something very basic?

What's the best way to put in, say, 163 waugh chapel road, odenton MD for example?

That happened to me too. When I first got it it was set to the wrong state. I can't tell you how to change it without the manual in front of me, but its pretty simple.

The TL doesn't realize your current state automatically? I didn't think that would matter. The map/location icons are working great. Just having a harder time then I should be having inputting new places to go to.

I did the same thing as you when I first got the car. I tried finding my street, but couldn't, until I realized that it was set to Alabama. This must be his problem too.

To change it, when you go into the address menu, it shows your state in the upper corner. Just press that, and select your state form the list. I think it's something like that.

It knows what state you are in, but it is set as if you are living in another state, so it trys to find the streets in that state. I would pay another few hundred for Talk To Type, the touch screen really pisses me off.

It's just defaulted to the first state in the list, when you first get the car.

crazymjb, at least you have the touch screen, and you don't need to fool around with the I-drive, which the BMW owners have to deal with!

You guys were right, simple as making sure state is right. For all of it's usefulness the Navi still needs the touch of an interface designer
