Handsfree and auto-voicemail interaction

Don't yet have my TL (but soon, I hope). Have a Sony Z600 with Bluetooth.

A couple of the places I call regularly (my work and husband's office) have automatic switchboards. I have to punch in the extension (no receptionist). How does the handsfree thing handle it - do I just say the number? "231"

Sorry if it's a stupid question, but I'm 99% certain that the dealer won't know (and yes, I DID do a search!).

you just push the TALK button and say "SEND" then the HFL will prompt you to say the name or number to send. you then say the number (i.e. 1-2-3) the push the TALK button and say "SEND". the HFL will then send the digits to the phone and dial the extension you wanted to dial.

I used to press-then-say "send 231", then press-then-say "send" again after HFL prompts the cue and displays 231 over MID.

Pot80h -

Another thing you can try is to assign "231" to a unique sounding phrase, such as "BeBoppaRebop". I do something like this to get to my Voicemail on Verizon.

For example, here's what I do for getting into my Verizon Voicemail:
I have 2 phone numbers stored in my HFL Phonebook:
  • "Voicemail" (*86)
  • "Voicemail Access Code" (# pause 0000 #)
When trying to receive my voicemail, I perform the following tasks:

  1. Press the HFL command button
  2. Say, "Voicemail"
  3. The HFL responds back, "Would you like to call 'Voicemail'?"
  4. Press the HFL command button
  5. Say, "Yes"
  6. Immediately after the Voicemail call has finished dialing (I don't wait for the voicemail message to start), press the HFL command button and say: "Voicemail Access Code".
  7. The HFL responds back, "Would you like to call 'Voicemail Access Code'?"
  8. Press the HFL command button
  9. Say, "Yes"
At this point, if the stars are aligned properly in the heavens, you will start hearing your voicemail system. You can say, "Send '1'" to start listening to messages.

Now, the reason I said "Immediately" in step (6) above is because the HFL command / response times are soooooo slow, that if I waited to hear the Voicemail system start talking before sending the Access Code, the Voicemail system has already timed out and started recording a message. I'll probably need to lengthen my Voicemail outgoing message to prevent this from happening in the future.
