Hands Free Link
Hands Free Link
For the hands free link in my 2007 acura tl, does any one know if there is a way to transfer my contacts to my "cars" contact list. Right now it will only show the number calling, not the name.
Also- what a bout a ringer? It will turn my music down but there is no tone associated with the ring (through the speakers)

Can't speak for certain to the 2007 because I understand the HFL is slightly different than it is in the 2004, but in the 2004 TL the HFL's caller ID will not display a name—it simply displays the incoming number on the MID.
Regarding a ringer: On the 2004 TL, we have a choice of a ring, a voice prompt, or no notification. I don't know if the 2007 is exactly the same (I think I read somewhere that they did away with the voice prompt at some point, but I may be wrong), but here are the instructions from the 2004 TL owner's manual in case they help. It appears that you have to go through the whole sequence each time. (I cannot confirm as I've never fiddled with these options.)
(1) Press and release the HFL talk button and say "System." (I assume you know that "say x" means "wait for the beep and then say x," so I won't repeat that each time. Likewise, I'll assume you understand that "hit the button" means the HFL talk button.)
(2) HFL responds, "System options are 'Setup' and 'Clear.'"
(3) Hit the button and say "Setup."
(4) HFL responds, "Would you like male or female prompts?" (I think I read that they eliminated the male voice at some point.)
(5) Hit the button and give whichever answer you prefer.
(6) HFL states, "[Sex] prompts have been selected. Would you like an audible notification of an incoming call?"
(7) Hit the button and say "Yes."
(8) HFL asks, "Would you like a ring tone or a prompt?"
(9) Hit the button to select whichever you prefer.
The ring tone sounds a bit like a traditional British telephone that sounds kind of like two half-rings when compared to a traditional American telephone. I've never used the voice prompt, but the manual says that the system says "You have an incoming call."
Depending on your phone, your phone's regular ringtone might or might not play simultaneously with the HFL's audible prompt. My current Verizon iPhone and my previous Motorola Z6cx both play(ed) ringtones; the Motorola RAZR (2006 to 2008) and the Motorola v710 (week after I bought the TL in August 2004 through 2006) I had previously did not.

2008 RDX Handsfree Link with iPhone4 (Verizon)
I had a Blackberry that was great with the Handsfree Link. Now I just bought an iPhone and never gave it a thought that it wouldn't sync with the Handsfree in my RDX. I am so upset unless I'm missing something, is this possible? If so can anyone help me??
But with that said, I bought a Verizon iPhone in February when they were released and I had no problem pairing it to my TL, so I assume you ought to be able to do the same with your RDX. Just follow the directions in the RDX owner's manual. One suggestion I will make is that you wait to activate the Bluetooth on your phone until your vehicle's HFL tells you that it is now searching for Bluetooth devices. I've found that when I pair Bluetooth devices (and I don't just mean phones to the HFL; I include pairing a Bang & Olufsen earpiece to a phone) it helps to put the device that is controlling the process in search mode, THEN activate the discoverable mode on the other device. I don't know why, but it's simply seemed to work better. Even now if I want to use my earpiece with my iPhone (usually that means I'm driving my RX-7) I find that even though they're already paired, it works better if I turn on the iPhone's Bluetooth, then turn on the earpiece. If I do it in the other order the phone doesn't always recognize the earpiece. I don't have that problem with the TL.
The other thing I always do when I pair a phone to the TL—the iPhone is my fourth phone in the seven years I've had this car—is that I take a cordless phone down to the car with me and then I make a test call to the paired cell phone while the HFL is active just to confirm that it works OK. I figure it's easy to do that to confirm rather than to miss a call later.
