Galaxy S5 Car Mode

Has anyone tried using a Samsung Galaxy S5 with their (2006-gen) TL?

Yes, I can pair my S5 with the TL BlueTooth and make calls through the TL.

However, the Samsung Car Mode does not work when Bluetooth is on.

Are our TLs on an older version of BlueTooth that doesnt support modern smart phones?

I have an s5, and my phone seems to work with my car, although to be honest, I have no idea what "car mode" is. Can you explain? I have an '06 as well.

our car does not have A2DP, a protocol for bluetooth audio.

if the galaxy s5 is trying to use bluetooth audio, A2DP, of course it wont work.

That makes sense. I figured it had something to do with the version of BlueTooth.

What is unfortunate, is that even though I could give up playing music from the phone through the TL's audio system....the complete failure of Car Mode means you can't command the phone to read your messages, or start navigation using Car Mode.

Hmmm... I wonder if there is an aftermarket solution to upgrade the blue tooth software without changing the hardware... Or some sort of plug and play system that can be kept out of sight and still rely on the original hardware.

Seems like a stretch, but it would be rather cool.
