Future navigation DVDs for 2008 TL

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knows how many more years Acura plans to release navigation updates for our 07/08 TL. Is there usually a certain amount of years before they discontinue support? It's not a big deal for me but would be nice knowing Acura still thinks of us...

I don't think the 3gen is really that old to see this... The 04-05 TSX nav disc was dropped but that was because few models had nav... I hear you can use an Accord nav disc and it'll work just fine...

But if so, we need to find a way to get something to work... I'm looking to go back to one of these older models and will be going for nav this time... Just did the update disc in my RDX about two years ago... Honestly, the update disc arent really up to date, but they are a vast improvement... If you don't live in or go to an are with constant road reconfiguration, it wouldn't be such a big deal...

But I do love the OEM nav system...

Yup, most of the time it's Google maps for me but the Navi is also nice to have.

This guy gets me! I know a 2019 will be released but was curious to know if that might be the last.

No, I just cannot believe that, I love 3gen TLs and I don't want to see tech support dropped... No Acura sedan sice has been comparable...

What I'm saying is does your city change that much that you need annual updates? I I have an 08 and bought a 2013 but not much has changed so it's rather useless. If you're expecting drastic system changes with the maps disc each year, then I hate to burst your bubble but they don't exist.

No it doesnt, and no I'm not expecting massive changes if any. Just an OCD guy that wants things a certain way, even if it means costing me a pretty penny. That's asides from the point though, I would just like to know if we can expect a few more years of support or not??

Deductive reasoning Skills 101:

Go to website, find oldest TL on there. Find newest disc.

https://acuranavi.navigation.com/pro...US/AcuraNA/USD

Input: 2000 TL, Disc: 2013. Last year of Production for that Model Year is 2003.

So by deduction, it's likely they'll they'll have 10 years of support after the latest production car (in our case is 2018)..

I don't see a 2019 disc out yet... but there are 2019 discs for the other cars soooo.. I think you're SOL

While things don't change all that often, I ran into a scenario last year where I hadn't updated my Garmin (which has lifetime map updates) in a while and was heading down to see my mom in New Jersey. Since, I don't know, maybe since Christ was a baby, the southbound exit ramp from the Garden State Parkway to southbound Route 17 was on the left, and that's how my GPS showed it. Wouldn't you know it, they moved the exit ramp over to the right and all I could do was wave as I went by.

I don't have NAV on my TL, but we do on my wife's Terrain. I am too cheap to pay for map updates when I have Google Maps on our phones. However, it is damn nice having it up on the screen, nice integration into the dash, and balanced voice prompts over the speakers vs looking a tiny phone screen and who knows what volume voice prompts from the phone.

When we are driving on vacation is about the only time we really use the NAV...and yes, it would be nice to have current maps. Exactly where we live doesn't change much, but seems that everywhere else we drive, the maps in our 2015 are very outdated and we have had issues similar to horseshoez. Also note...there still are places in the US that do not have data services...so being fully dependent upon Google Maps can be a real PITA.

Someday, I will probably eventually buck up for an update for her car. Maybe.

You can download offline maps onto your phone from Google.

Only if you remember to do it ahead of time.
I use that extensively just to help when data is slow as well as to help keep my data usage in check. I drive to Iowa on a regular basis and service is quite often sub-3G or non-existent so I am already quite familiar with off-line mode.

I bought the 2018/19 NAV Map DVD and it did some system updating before it loaded the maps.

Does anyone know if the 3G Navigation systems allow for BirdsEye view on the map screen?

You don't have all of the cameras, need to add to front grille and each side under the mirrors, if you really want it, bring it to a shop, and they can get an aftermarket kit fab it up, but it'll cost ya$$$!

No, not an exterior camera view I meant the view you see on the map as you drive with the navigation moving with you.

Usually, there are different map views........."North Up" or North Down" or 3D or Birds Eye

I believe there will be, as the white Navi discs were also used on the 4G TL, 2009-2014.

The last update for the 2004-2006 TL using the orange discs was 2014-- 8 eight years after the last model year.

I'm guessing there wasn't much demand for it, but in retrospect, dropping tech supoort for an 8 year old car is kind of asinine. How did the owners of a 2006 TL navi feel when their recently paid off TL was already given somewhat of an ax. Once again, I've heard the 2003-05 Accord disc is still in production and it *may* work.

Good to know that the 3gen will likely have nav disc available throughout 2022-2024 given that the 4gen uses a similar disc.

I love having nav on my RDX and will never buy another car without it, unless it's a really good deal and I could retrofit in sone form of OEM looking nav.

One thing to mention is how horrifically dated the 2006 disc in my RDX was, not showing some roads that had been completed many years before it's release, but getting the 2016 disc via mail offer fixed that

Got this snippet from Acura.ca: "Please note: This product is out of stock until the 2019 version becomes available. The 2019 release is expected in December. Please check back then. Thank you"

Hopefully they follow through...heres to 11 years and going haha.

Does Honda produce a "Change List" so we can evaluate whether or not its worthwhile to upgrade?

Their only justification is: "An Acura map update isn’t just about new roads and features. Each update includes important modifications. In the United States alone, 40,000 turn restrictions, 30,000 one-way streets, and 14,000 road signs are updated on average every year. An individual road segment contains up to 260 unique data attributes."

I'll definitely inquire more once 2019 actually comes out.

Ugh I don't appreciate it but I get the idea from a representative of Acura and they said they are only doing the road side assistance for the 2016 and newer and soon will be 2018 so much for the usefulness of the hfl and the navigation is already decent and l am never in a hurry for the destination that i need update that often i prefer to enjoy the ride besides how much it is to go the longer backroads I enjoy the ride more than rhs destination especially in my TL i call her NEZUkO sbe is a demon /demon slayer in an anime I'm not sure what they added to the motor I just know she walks stock TL all day long and not a type s I just have a few issues with it right now my daughter and her bf were driving her and my drive axle broke the car sat idk 9 months I'm a single mom and a veteran would have thought I would be able to get some assistance seen as I am currently living in a hotel room with 2 kids and losing my mind my cheese slide off the cracker a little more every day lol i am currently on a job hunt but i would have to have my car ..... I need these parts I believe

*Ignition switch and assembly
*02 sensors
Relays and fuses for ECM and pcm it rained in the floor board and idk what is going on but I know I have a 83-1 ecm/ PCM perm relation failure
*Navigation disc not obviously needed for driving
*Not sure what the issue is at first I could not get the gear shift out of park now it will not do anything but rev in all the gears idk man
*Green hfl yes it matters the plugs aren't interchangeable and can't be rewired it is an upgrade on 07 anyway I was having to shake the wheel prior to park for her injury and I didn't know that the immobilizer would engage thanks to the mimic of an accident paired with a ridiculously bad tire blowout which also engaged TPMS issue also I didn't get the new sensors I do know every time you have a tire issue they have to be replaced and recalibrated but more than that I'm worried the wheel well damaged speed sensor or something too maybe vsa issue and why the car won't move bottom line it runs but like if lt running on two cylinders and makes me nauseous it had no codes except navi disc issue and tighten the fuel cap i changed knock sensor, harmonic balancer plugs wires flushed motor of fluids and been keeping regular appt for oil changes also / abs /vsa / flash green key and drive light also solenoid shift sensor. Are both lit but I believe the issue is now the ECM/PCM issues also its not moving in any gear for god sake this thing is not even a year old I purchase what I know is not a average car they went to great lengths to cover up the issues please you all may not get it but I am currently entertaining selling a kidney this car might be nothing to you but she is my world

They should stop burning maps to a DVD , which fails, and just use RAM and a USB to flash update the BIOS.

Great idea, you should go back in time and tell Jon Ikeda and the Acura engineers to make that happen
