I was able to install mine by only removing the driver's side center console panel. I really think most anyone should be able to access the back of the receiver at this step (but I have the benefit of having already done this when installing my USA-Spec unit). A pair of long needle nose pliers helps!! The whole install took less than an hour.
The steering wheel control buttons work as advertised (streaming to S4) and sound quality is great. Although BT compression IS lossy (except for apt-X), I can't tell any difference. I'm waiting to hear from Blitzsafe on whether or not the unit supports apt-X.
Very pleased with this unit. My thanks to the OP for being the guinea pig
well i believe i found the problem. my car has nav traffic and don't think its compatible with the blitzsafe unit. looks like ill be going with the usa spec iPod direct unit that connects to the xm tuner in the trunk

Hmmm, according to Blitzsafe documentation, it should be compatible with your 07. Have you talked with Blitzsafe to see what they say? If other TLs with nav traffic have had issues, they would for sure know about it.
Is your iPhone rooted? Are you running any custom roms on the phone?
I've just installed this in my '05 TL no navi today. With my Galaxy S5, the volume controls on the steering wheel work but changing tracks doesn't. Everything else works fine.

un bolt your xm tuner behind the right trunk trim. if it has 2 black plugs you have nav traffic. if it has white plugs you don't have nav traffic.
usa spec specific for nav traffic
spent hours on the phone with melody at blitzsafe as well as ira in the technical department that these units will NOT work with our vehicle if it has nav traffic.
without nav traffic
the unit with one white plug does not have nav traffic and is comptable with the blitzsafe or any interface and can be tee'd in behind the radio . the unit with 2 black plugs has nav traffic and the interface must be tee'd in at the xm unit or the interface will not operate as intended, also the radio will freeze when switching from tuner, aux, disc. i have spent the last 2 weeks testing this. I'm no noob to the car audio industry ( experienced since 1998) and this one was new to me
I wasn't asking for myself. It's working fine for me.
So did Blitzsafe even have a clue that it didn't work with nav traffic?
I'll have to say that I'm not the least bit impressed with Blitzsafe's tech support or customer service. I took them 10 days to even ship my unit and when I sent them an email asking if it supported apt-x, they replied, "what is apt-x?".
If they knew the unit was not compatible but didn't include that in the product info, bad on them. If they were unaware, them still bad on them. They should've done better testing. At any rate, did they say they would update the product info so people with Nav Traffic know not to waste their time?
the only responce i got from them was it should work with my car. i told them after they sent me 3 units that i was returning all three for a refund.i explained that i was not about to let a $90.00 interface damage my $3000. factory radio. they were not very tech savy but helpful with resolving my issue in returning the unit immediately. on their site it does not say anything about options of working with nav traffic. i have a dice mediabridge and tried that with same results.i went onto dice's website and it states not compatable with nav traffic/technology package, so at least the dice webside is aware of the difference in options our cars have.
just to add more proof that the xm tuners are different for 07-08 than 04-06. i checked the part # on the 04-06 xm tuner and they are the same. the 07-08 model xm tuners are different and 3 times the price.
So if i have navi and an 08 i basically cannot use this product for bluetooth streaming. What product should I install that's clean and seamless? Link or product description please?

It sounds like it still streams, but you won't be able to change tracks with the steering wheel buttons....
Not to hijack the thread too much... But since we already have discussed the Scosche mount, here's how I mounted mine. Only been 3 days, but it's rock solid even though the full area of the base is not attached to the dash. I really like the location because it's within arm's reach and gives an unobstructed view.
Can you guys clarify for those who try to choose the right unit for themselves (like me):
Blitzsafe, iSimple and USA Spec, all of them are BT units and you can change tracks on your smartphone from the steering wheel controls?
It looks like USA Spec adds line and USB connections? What else is different?
Thanks,

Just installed this in my 07 TLS with nav (not sure if it has traffic tbh) and it does not work at all. I can see the device on my phone and pair with it, but switching to the aux input as the directions state does nothing. The headunit/nav does not recognize the Bluetooth device at all.
Maybe I'm doing something incorrectly.. but it looks like its more than just the steering wheel buttons..

Did you use the Mode button to switch to CDC? You have to be in CDC for it to work.
I would think it is safe to assume that this unit is compatible with navigation as well? Also, to clarify you're just plugging the unit into the factory stereo and taking the unplugged connector and just connecting it to the unit? That seems simple enough Then to listen to the BT unit you just hit the CD button? Then hit it again if you want to use the CD Player? I have been want to get an AUX unit for sometime, but this is waaay better! Thank you for this find!
Good call, that did the trick. Does your unit put out weird noise/distortion at lower volumes when on this mode? (probably the unit, not the mode)
No, haven't noticed any distortion... and I use it to listen to books as well as music and do not hear anything abnormal.

Yeah, yours does seem pretty good. I think my Note 4 might be a little crowded in that spot, but it might still work. I was looking around the dash tonight for other spots, but we really don't have a lot of flat and open surfaces. I think what I don't like about your spot as much is that I think I'll lose the ability to go landscape. We'll see though, it might end up there.
