Focal 165 KF installed...with pics and video

i just installed my focal components 165 kf. before i had poldb6501 in the front (one of them blew) the polks could of been better. right now my setup is focal 165 kf in the front and polk db 651s in the rear. i LOVE the focal's although installing them were a pain in the ass. they didnt fit the stock mounts so i had to cut them and i also had to cut the door's but was worth it for sure. the sound quality is amazing! im also running a jl 12w7 in the rear which im probably taking out because im so pleased with the interior base from the focals. i also installed fatmat
here is my video the quality isnt the greatest and the focals are only running at about 60 rms (go up to 80rms) dosent sound to clear on the video because of the camera but in person it excellent.

its kinda hard to review the quality of speakers online, its kinda like commercials for hd tv's on a normal tv. However I do really like that song by Aura Dione, I just downloaded it

The problem is the sound on my end is only as good as my computer speakers and the recording device.

I'm sure it sounds great though. I had a chance to listen to a couple of the Utopia Be sets and they're very nice.

What amps are you running and are you running a processor? If you have no processor you can get even more out of your speakers with one.

I wouldn't get rid of the W7 though, it's an excellent SQ sub. If you like the way the Focals sound down low so much, cut the W7 off low like 40hz and keep the gains down just to fill in the bottom. Without the sub you won't be able to play the entire spectrum and being able to produce 20-20khz is very important for SQ. I usually keep my subs up just enough to fill in the low end. You don't really notice them unless you turn them off then you realize something is missing. I've found the best thing to do is drive around with no sub for a few days and then add it in slowly.

Like most have said, I'd keep the W7, but I understand you would like to gain some $$. Why not sell the W7 and Audiobahn sub(s) and buy a new/cheaper/quality sub and keep the difference or buy a processor?

Subs: To name a few for example.

Image Dynamics - IDQ V3
JL Audio - W6v2
Dayton Audio

Processor/LOC: (AudioControl, RF 3Sixty, MS-8)

The great thing about the W7 is it's JL's best sound quality sub and it happens to get loud as well. Put it in the proper box and set the gains and you will fall in love with it. I just heard a top SQ competitor that was using Focal Utopias and a 12W7 and it's placed very well in competition. Having the potential for tons of output means it will stay very clean and dynamic which is important. I would sell your other sub and use it to build a proper enclosure for the W7.

You don't want a JL spec box, you want something larger if you're doing sealed. As much as 50% larger will give you better SQ and require less power.

Sounds pretty similar to my current setup matt. But I have a 13.5 instead of the twelve.
