fix amp or throw it away?

so i have this burnt kenwood amp laying around and was wondering if its worth it to get it fixed or not. do people usually fix amps when they get burnt out or do you just throw them away?

any idea how much it'd cost to fix the amp?

i burnt it out by plugging the power cable in while power was there.. it sparked and burnt out i guess. thanks

it depends on how old it is.... It could be burned transistor - a popped cap... who knows till you really take the bottom off and find out whats been burned up. Which model is it?

Most likely you can find something comparable brand new for the same price it'll cost you to fix it.

Looks like that amp has a retail online price of 150-160 bucks. Most likely you can have it looked at / repaired for $50-75. You can take it to a kenwood authorized repair shop and have it done... or you can take it to some local repair shop...

Checking Kenwood.com I'm seeing

AUTO RADIO SERVICE
2735 ARDEN WAY
SACRAMENTO CA 95825-1366
916-338-4080
92.1 mi

as your closest authorized kenwood facility. You could try calling them and see what they say. Most likely you shorted out a couple of diodes/ transistors when grounded it.

it seems like most of the repair shops are in the sacramento region. pioneer works with two authorized repair shops down in sac as well. look up yelp. im sure you'll find something
