Finally got some pics of my stereo install.

Have had this in for a month or so, but one of the amps stopped working. Turned out the voltage on the LOC was too high causing the amp to go into protection. Got it back from the factory yesterday and re-installed... It sounds pretty sweet now. Amp dialed in 1605 watts at 2 ohms though, only rated at 1400.

Please delete one of these...

I posted this twice, my computer locked up, so I resent thinking the first one didn't work.

They carpeted the entire trunk so there would be no paint showing... same carpet the used on the fake wall, amp cover and sub box. The wood for the cover is 1/2" MDF I think, and the floor is the same... the rear wall is 1", and the box is the same.

LOL yea, they were overheating like a biatch, but I finally got them to stop shutting off I think... The gains were too high, and now it hasn't shut off at full volume for over 20 minutes, which I never play it that loud, just testing it. I turned the LOc up, and the gain down. I don't think it is the amps problem, cause my MS2250 did it as well, and they do NOT shut off unless something is wrong with the install. I assume not having enough voltage going to them was the culprate.

The bass, Darkcyde, is DAMN loud. The sub is a 12W7. The installer said I should be in the mid 140s dB wise, and I do not doubt it. The sub is 47 lbs without the box, and the design of the sub with the reverse surround actually makes the sub a little over 13"s... it sounds like an accurate 15". Highly recommend any JL, esp the W6 series and the W7.

140db?? Hope you can still hear in a few years. Don't laugh...my hearing has been damaged from flying jet aircraft even using noise canceling headphones. Once it's gone it never comes back to normal...I know!! I hate saying "huh?"....when I'm talking to people but it's the result of my hearing loss. I'd estimate the SPL in the aircraft I fly to be in the constant 85db range.....with occasional levels at 90-100db and even that was enough to damage my hearing in less than 5 years using headphones with active noise canceling circuits built into the headset. I'm not trying to criticize you for having a nice stereo setup in your car...just be carefull with the volume...I'd hate to see you damage your ears like I've done with mine.

I'm sorry to hear that jet!! that sux. i personally know audiophiles who play there car stereos at high volumes constantly and have had no hearing loss at all. I agree that moderation is key but not everyones ears are the same. EVERYONE SHOULD USE CAUTION though.

what i wonder is the frequency range of the noise you hear and that of the subwoofers. I'd image the jet aircraft would be at a much higher frequency than the subs which usually play no higher than 2-300 hz. would that have an affect on how your ears react to the sound?!?!?

Yes stock fronts and rears run off that little amp (about 14 inches) under the box... you can see about 2/3s or it. The large one is 26 inches long. I should have put something in there as a reference for you guys, but the amp is wheel well wheel well... The entire install was about $1,100 including the 3 line out converters which are 20-30 bucks a piece?, the sub, amps, and all the wires, (all P/G wiring), was around $3,600, maybe a touch more. I paid much less cause I found everything I wanted new on eBay for about $1,500 less. So the entire get up was right around 3K or so installed. I could have done some of the install myself, but don't know a damn thing about interfacing with factory systems, and did not want to try to tackle it. I usually just scrap the factory radio and put in an Alpine, but did not want to loose the phone, or the 5.1, or DVD-Audio.

Jet, yes I know all about hearing loss. I think I may have a little hearing loss, but have had a stereo since the day I was driving, 16 years, 0 days. I had a 140+ dB stereo in my first car, and it atucally used to make my heart skip beats sometimes, that wasn't cool. The bass rythmic hitting can actually cause your heart to skip beats, which I thought was non-sense till it happened to me a few times in that car. My car after that measured 147dB with the gains all the way down, it had 152 in it, I am positive, but I never tested it when I turned the gains up to full voltage. The one after that only hit 136 till it blew a fuse, it wasn't as loud, but sounded a lit better. So yea, I've had loud stereos almost half my life, and all my driving life, so I am being careful with the volume.

I'm sure you used 3 loc's so that you could keep your 5.1. but why not just get an audio control lc6... wouldn't that work for all six channels? i was thinking about getting it

It probably would, but this was cheaper and easier.
