Feedback needed: Viper 4205v 2-way one button remote starter system

I am looking to install the Viper Value 2-Way Remote Start System (4205v) , on my 06 TL and was looking for feedback.

Viper Value 2-Way Remote Start System

Viper Responder One (Model 4205V) Remote start/keyless entry system with 2-way remotes at Crutchfield.com

I was surprised, this product has been in the market for 4+ years now and no mentions on Acurazine or Youtube with regards to a TL install.

Looking for feedback on compatibility with the TL-
- ExpressKit DBALL2 security bypass
- Full integration (see this link on how it only partially integrates with MDX
)
- Can the trunk still pop, using original remote once started ?
- Defogger / Defrost capability
- remote battery life, etc.

Also, anybody know of a similar product that is 2-way comm but one button ?

Interesting topic, since I had one installed in my 06 TL last night.
Quick version: very happy with it. It does work at several hundred foot range through walls (although I haven't tested it for the full 2000 foot advertised range).
-Remote batter life quoted to me as ~ 2 years with moderate use (I assume that means using it when it's cold and hot out- you're probably not going to use it in the spring and fall for the most part)
-My defroster was not able to be connected at the shop I used (was told it's a bit complicated to do)- not a huge deal to me actually as I'll set my seats to warm, the front defroster to on and temp to upper range (probably 80 or so) when it's parked the night before (and the HVAC will keep the settings you set when you last ran the car)
-The way it works is as follows:
4205V remote starts car with 1 second press, then alerts you with tone and green LED on remote (doors stay locked)
When you approach the car, the car is locked, and your OEM remote won't work while the car is running (it's a safety, so you use the Viper remote with another quick push of the button to unlock the door)
Get in, do not step on the brake as it will shut the engine down- engine WILL remain running not as in the video above.
Put the key in the ignition, turn to on position (2 clicks forward), then it's OK to step on the brake and that shuts down the remote start, shift and drive away
Run time on mine is 24 minutes which should be adequate time for warmup of the engine and interior, even if very cold). The remote can be used to shut it down before the 24 minute limit if needed (additional 3 second press of the remote).

Otherwise (if the remote has not been used to start the car), the OEM remote works as it always did (unlock, lock, windows down feature, trunk, everything). If the Viper remote starts the car, then the OEM remote doesn't work until the remote start is 'disabled' as above. Plus, there's a valet/ garage mechanic disable switch installed as well under the dash (in my case). Xpresskit DBall2 is the one used with the TL.

I don't think I could have installed it, so I had it done for me at a stereo installation shop (Imagine Audio in Cherry Hill- took about 3 hrs and $471.59 for the full installation with the parts, labor, and tax). I originally was going to get the higher end one (the 4605v), but didn't want to lose function of the OEM remote. SmartStart is a nice feature, but I didn't want to pay the subscription fee (something like $140 for 3 years). I was told by the shop the installation can be difficult, so they recommend having it professionally installed, plus, it's guaranteed for life (both parts and installation) and wires were soldered, not crimp connected.

Bottom line, I'm very satisfied with it and the price isn't bad (and it's compatible with Smart Start if you want to go that route in the future).

PM if you have any other questions.

So, it will heat up the seats even when you're not in the car? I somehow thought that Hondas had a weight sensor that would turn the heater off when you're not in the seat.

I'm not sure about a weight sensor in the seat to activate the heating element, but the seats may not be as warm (even if on when the car was last parked) since the element is a little further from the seat cover since there's no weight on it. I haven't tried it with the seat heat on, but I can report back when I try it.

I tried it tonight- my seats were decently warm after the car was left running (after a remote start)- so they do work independent of requiring a weight on the seat.

Thanks for the quick feedback. I understand the original remote is disabled while the engine is running on the remote starter ... just wondering if the trunk release would still work on the factory remote after the car is unlocked and while still running on remote start.

The wife would kill me if the trunk release is disabled while on remote start ... the only reason stopping me from putting this system in.

you can check this by starting your car and trying to open it with your oem remote. pretty sure it wont.
the trunk release would work on start if the the aftermarket system has the button for it, and plus the bypass it does the door locks, the oem alarm and trunk release so you already have it wired. its just the viper remote you want doesn't have the button for it and also if you are going to get a 2 way and pay all that money i would get one with all the features instead of just start and unlock.

Update: Trunk button on OEM fob will NOT open trunk while car is running and unlocked based on remote car starting. This is not a big deal to me at all, but it might be for others. If you want the trunk to function, you'd have to get the upper tier system from Viper (which I believe is the 4608V). That one has more buttons on the remote for lock/unlock/ starter/ and another button for other funtions like the trunk.
