Factory iPod/hu question for 2008 tls

Does anyone know if the aux iPod input in the 08 tls runs through the head unit?

If it runs through the head unit, can I assume the signal runs through the same d/a converter as the cd signal?

yes, the AUX input connects on the back of the head unit, is processed by the HU and then that signal sent to the amplifier and speakers and such.

If you don't mind me asking, what's a D/A converter?
